Play one or two songs and get live, in person feedback after you play. We also sometimes end with a group circle discussion. Come along to perform, or to watch, and meet some other writers! Benito Cerati continues the tour to present his new album "Shasei". Having already been in different important international festivals such as Lollapalooza and Paraguay’s Asunciónico, as well as playing in some of the most important cities in Argentina, he is now heading to Spain, London and France to continue playing the album live.

"Shasei" (2022) is the album that marks the beginning of Benito's solo career, which has been very well received by the specialized press and was nominated to “Best Alternative Album” by Argentinian awards Premios Gardel. It has ten new songs, inspired by his experiences during adolescence, the intensity of the first love encounters, mistakes made, the passage of time and the coexistence between nature and technology.

For the composition of the new material, Benito was inspired by traditional argentinian music, late 90s electronica and spy movie soundtracks, achieving a record with a baroque sound and many spatial, nocturnal, and sensual layers. "Agujero negro" and "Buenos dias amor" are the two songs that Benito chose to advance the range of musical and aesthetic colors that Shasei's track-list promises.

"It's quite a mysterious and nocturnal record. Basically it's the most pop I've ever made, but at the same time it's where I explore the most genres. There's a bit of tango and folklore, some elements that I took from classical music, some of the seventies’ classic romantic ballads, ambient, soundtracks of vintage movies, electronic music of the 90s, loaded with loops and samples...". This is how Benito defines the color palette of "Shasei".

Gareth Jones is a pioneer and undoubtably one of the most important producers in the history of sampling and electronic music. Join us for this First Of Its Kind Event, where Gareth revisits and auditions the original multi-tracks from Depeche Mode's "Construction TIme Again" album.

This groundbreaking album was Gareth's first collaboration with the band and the album still sounds fresh and innovative even as it reaches it's 40 year anniversary!

Hear the playback of the multitracks not in Stereo but in Quad. The presentation will focus on 3 of the album tracks and be followed by a Q&A where Gareth will take your questions.

Gotobeat is to team up with Strongroom to welcome an exceptional lineup on Wednesday, June 14th.

TRUNKS – Fresh into 2023 and South London based artist, TRUNKS, is breaking out onto the music scene with a fervour to make his mark. After a successful run with alt-rock band Little Grim, which saw the groups’ music amassing 100k streams, being played on Radio X and BBC 6 Music, as well as having their music featured on Netflix series “The AList”, TRUNKS is taking 2023 as an opportunity to push into a new sound.

Combining the guitar swagger of artists like The Strokes and Tame Impala, with pulsing beats and a vulnerable message, the music embodies a hybrid of organic and synthetic sounds; spitting poppy hooks whilst retaining a distinctive rawness that solidifies TRUNKS’ unique identity. The lead vocals blend seamlessly amongst the musical melting pot before shooting up into delicate falsetto sections, which sees them balancing silkily on top of the mix. The artist first found his passion for music at 15 years old, when he would spend break times at school slipping into the music department to practice playing with a few likeminded friends.

FIREFRIEND:

Firefriend finally come from São Paulo, the largest city of Brazil, to play six gigs across the UK in June 2023, following a covid postponed tour in 2020. Julia Grassetti (bass, keyboards, vocals), Yury Hermuche (guitar, vocals) and C.Amaral (drums, synthesizer) are known for their distinct take on the spectrum between shoegaze and psychedelia. Citing references like Velvet Underground, Black Sabbath and John Coltrane, Firefriend have been on the road since 2006. With Little Cloud records releasing their seminal ep THE BLACK HOLE in 2017, they started to find a sizeable audience in the UK, culminating in two performances at the renowned Fuzz Club festival in Eindhoven 2019. In the last 6 years, the band released eight albums, with Cult UK label Cardinal Fuzz releasing four of them, which are all sold out.

Firefriend are back with a brand new full length album. Easily some of their best work yet!

GHOST PATTERNS:

Since originally forming in 2019, the London based band has garnered attention across the shoegaze,psych and post-punk scenes, whilst bagging support slots along the way with Desert Mountain Tribe, Helicon, Cult Of Dom Keller, Mayflower Madame and most recently, The Third Sound, with its current line-up of Terry Hale (vocals/ guitars/keys), Morgan Ager (guitars), Lex Giggs (bass/vocals), James Walker (drums and percussion).

Elements of their influences can be traced back to late 60's psychedelia, the independent post-punk scene, through to the shoegazing era of the early 90's. Expect swathes of layered guitars, icy synth textures washed in reverb, juxtaposed with pounding bass lines and abrasive drums to round off the sonic palette.

Debut single 'Disappears', 'Oracle' E.P. and album ‘Infinite’ have been featured on L.A’s Part-Time Punks radio show(US), DKFM Shoegaze Radio, Drowned In A Sea Of Sound 2021 Spotify playlist, This Radiant Hour radio show (US), Amazing Radio, The Reverb, Artrocker Radio, Radio Wigwam (UK), U.S. Second Scene print magazine (issues 6 and 10), White Light/Heat Heat, Songs From Under the Floorboard, Isolation Records, Tilley’s Music Guidance blog and Static Sounds Club (UK).

Southsea based Reverb Rock / Shoegaze sextet Sierpinski were formed in early 2020. The sound of grooving basslines and haze drenched riffs are channeled from the spirit of 60’s Psych to early 90’s Shoegaze.

The band consists of Ollie Taylor (Vocals/Guitar), Steve Hare (Organ/Guitar), Clark Spencer (Guitar), Joe Costello (Tambourine/Guitar), Jacob Sievwright (Bass) and Sam Martin (Drums).
