Made up of drummer LaurieCampling, bassist Frank Black, keyboard player Sam Hillier, guitarist and vocalist Memphis Koloi & saxophonist and vocalist Maia Avery, Kotoa recently signed to Wah Wah 45s, bringing a refreshing sound, blending political rhetoric, soulful melodies & heavy bass lines. Deeply influenced by dub, trip hop & the recent rise of African inspired jazz, Kotoa are a rising force in Brixton’s historic music scene.

Following on from the success of their first two singles, Higher Being and I Am, and their cover version of Fela Kuti’s Zombie, which received support from Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 6 Music and Worldwide FM, this exciting young outfit present their full debut EP, entitled Earthwise. Hammer is known for his love of deep rolling arps, old analogue synths and big euphoric melodies. Recently playing festival and clubs like Love International, Panorama Bar, Glastonbury, Fabric and headlining AVA Festival in his hometown in Belfast.

Alongside releasing tracks on labels such as Unknown To The Unknown, Correspondent, Optimo Music, Sulta Selects and Shall Not Fade, Hammer has been doing live streams at the Saatchi Gallery with Feel My Bicep, B2B live stream for Warehouse Project and Resident Advisor with Sally C and a Boiler Room show in Vienna. Making productive use of the lockdown period, Hammer launched 2 new labels, Italo Hiits and Remmah.

Since debuting in 2012, British producer Michael Greene aka **Fort Romeau** has developed a unique take on dancefloor music, fusing elements of house, kraut, ambient, disco, and techno. His love for music and record collecting goes back much further. As a child he would join his father, an avid vinyl collector on journeys to record fairs and jumble sales, digging every weekend from the age of 8 years old. And so it was quite natural that the collector became the DJ and the listener became the musician.

Macka B is a British-born reggae artist, performer and activist with a career spanning thirty years in the United Kingdom and Jamaica. According to AllMusic.com “Macka B was one of Britain’s most influential dancehall toasters.”

​Macka B “the Teacher” is well known for his social commentary and Conscious lyrics, a Rastaman with compassion a real man for the people. Over two decades Macka B has released over 15 albums and travelled worldwide always keeping true to his principles and faith. Starting off on sound systems in Wolverhampton England Macka B has become one of the most respected Reggae artists in the circuit and he has toured all over the world.

In a one away excursion Deptford Dub Club are taking a journey to the further reaches of the spacier side of reggae music. Expect oodles of the dubbier side of Roots Reggae liberally tinged with nyabinghi and flavours of the earthier side of Free Jazz with shades of Funk. Many elements of dubby avant garage will be played in Soundsystem style, building towards our usual spirited dance session as the evening progresses.

Your co-pilots for this musical mission will include Tessa from the legendary Slits, who were produced by Dub Meister Dennis Bovell and toured with Don Cherry. Also along for the ride there’ll be a host of special guests.

Astronauts will include D.D.C. regulars Soft Wax, MC Doc Murdoc, Ras Danny Dread and Vandorta. There will also be live horns and guests. This is a multi-media event and there will be an extensive installation based on the themes of the show in general and Sun Ra in particular. This will be in the vintage 1 st class railway carriage in the garden.

Deptford Dub Club – EFG Jazz Fest Special

Ben Jones is a gifted multi-instrumentalist/producer whose reputation is firmly established in the London music scene. Over the years, Ben has worked with artists including Sam Smith, Jacob Collier, Mary J Blige, Sir Tom Jones and Jazmine Sullivan but has always made time for developing his own material. Projects such as DivaGeek brought the attention of musical royalty, Lalah Hathaway, leading him to produce music on one of her Grammy winning records.

Ben’s style is rooted in funk and soul with a deep groove, slightly jazzy harmony and hints of hip-hop. His infectious Instagram reels made waves in the Lo-Fi beats community. This spurred him on to release his much anticipated Mixtapes – Volume One & Volume Two. Following up with a ‘Mixtape Live In London’ Album.

On his latest release ‘No Simulation’ he’s introduced the vocoder as a way of carrying his songs. With help from some of Londons finest musicians and vocalists, he can’t wait to bring his music in all it’s different forms, LIVE, DIRECT and CORRECT to the Fox and Firkin!

Sargento Pimienta is a new sound on London’s thriving Cuban music scene - a salsa band that plays exclusively the music of The Beatles.  
  
Comprising of some of London’s finest young musicians, the band has been a smash hit at salsa nights all over London since its formation in 2022. 
  
After a short tour on the channel island of Alderney last summer, the band filmed and recorded its debut EP and is looking forward to a busy summer of festivals in 2025.

With a setlist including such classics as “Here Comes The Sun”, “Hey Jude” and “Octopus Garden”, Sargento Pimienta will show you a new way to twist and shout!

Dogshite formed around 2007 inspired by their heroes of old, bands like obscurist indie types the Shapes and Kleenex, mixed with the sound, energy, and political nihilism of classic punk bands like X-Ray Spex, the Slits and Anarcho legends Crass.

Chris Liberator is a pioneering DJ and producer, known for his extensive work with Stay Up Forever and Cluster, as well as numerous collaborations with figures like D.A.V.E. The Drummer and Guy McAffer. A staple in the Acid Techno scene, he has also released tracks under his own name for labels like Tec and Smitten.

**Spanner**

Spanner from Bristol play a volatile mix of militant punk and ska. It's music for rebellion, revolt and dancing on the ruins of capitalism.

**Leeroy Thornhill**

Leeroy spent over 10 years with the Prodigy on their worldwide tours, numerous festival events and general hell raising shenanigans. A few years ago Leeroy left the band to concentrate on his own solo productions under the name Flightcrank and to re launching his DJ career which he didn't really have time for while in the band. He picked up his musical style whilst touring with the Prod in mid 90's - it's a mix of tough Electrobreaks, old skool samples, Hip Hop, rock and electro. It's fundamentally a great mash up of breaks n electro style toons, using plenty of familiar hooks, with a good old skool feel.

Heavy on the electro edge and full of funk that rocks the dancefloor.

Dani Roade

With his heart in Latin American music, Dani Roade is a Colombian Spanish multi-instrumentalist and DJ celebrated for his storytelling approach to sound. Featured on Balamii, Voices Radio, and Brixton Radio, his sets uncover the treasures of Latin songwriting tales of struggle, and myth. Off the airwaves, Dani leads the fiery cumbia–salsa ensemble Sonido Miniván, bringing the golden age of tropical Latin music to life.

We are thrilled that, on the 21st December, Deptford Dub Club will host a **Christmas Special**. Expect music of Jamaican origin, of the highest order, played in Soundsystem style, through a full and mighty rig, throughout this celebratory session. We’re double plus chuffed that our headliner for this event is the legendary **Jerry Dammers** performing a **DJ set**, founder of **The Specials** and much else besides. This will be a specially extended festive event.

To start the evening we will be welcoming the young lionesses Duppy Sista Sound to the wheels of steel. Expect a carefully chosen selection from the duo, they tore the place down in January and always play up a storm. They will be succeeded on the decks by D.D.C. stalwart Natty Nick. The vibrant Nick exudes positive vibes and can be relied upon for a scintillating set, presented with style. Expect Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae revive.

Resident selector Soft Wax will be spinnin’ the rhythms, on the wheels of steel. On the mic there will be toasting and singjay action, live and direct, from the mighty Doc Murdoc. There will also be live instrumentation from our fresh, Horn Section, led by Tombone of the Dub Pistols and featuring Michael. There’ll be extra special guest vocalists too.

There will also be live mixes from the great Prince Fatty on the desk, throughout the session. Come on down to our celebration of the joys of the festive season and put on your dancing shoes.

**Benny L**, a London-based drum and bass producer, is celebrated for his innovative approach to basslines and precision engineering in production. Emerging as one of the most exciting figures in the scene, he has released music on iconic labels such as Metalheadz and Audioporn, with standout tracks like Low Blow and Vanta Black.

Joining him on stage are The Ragga Twins - a legendary drum and bass duo hailing from London. Comprised of sibling members Deman Rockers and Flinty Badman, the Ragga Twins have been a pioneering force in the drum and bass and jungle music scenes for over three decades.

**Krust** is a seminal figure in drum and bass, renowned for his boundary-pushing productions and contributions to the genre’s evolution. Emerging in the early 1990s, Krust was deeply influenced by Bristol's rich musical culture, which blended reggae, hip hop, and electronic sounds. Alongside Roni Size, Die, and Suv, he co-founded the influential collective Reprazent, which brought drum and bass to the global stage.

**Speaker Louis** is a French producer and DJ with a serious knack for merging modern DnB rollers with the deep-rooted flavours of dub, dancehall, and jungle. Now based in London, his music reflects the UK's rich sound system culture… gritty, groovy, and grounded.
