Cuban-born pianist and composer Harold López-Nussa begins an exciting new chapter of his fascinating career with his Blue Note debut Timba a la Americana, a vibrant album teeming with joy and pathos that was inspired by the pianist’s recent decision to leave his Cuban homeland and begin a new life in France. Produced by Snarky Puppy bandleader Michael League, Timba a la Americana unveils a brand-new sound across 10 dynamic original compositions performed by a tight-knit band featuring harmonica virtuoso Grégoire Maret, Luques Curtis on bass, Bárbaro “Machito” Crespo on congas, and Harold’s brother Ruy Adrián López-Nussa on drums.

The Mingus Big Band celebrates the music of composer/bassist Charles Mingus who celebrated his Centennial year in 2022. Founded under the artistic direction of Sue Mingus in 1991 to build off the Mingus Dynasty septet that she formed after Mingus’ death in 1979, this 14-piece band features new arrangements of Mingus compositions in a larger band format that Mingus was not always able to organize in his lifetime. The dynamic structure encourages deep explorations and ever-evolving ideations of Mingus Music and provides a platform for individual artistic expression.

ALBA Musik, the dynamic duo consisting of powerhouse vocalist Bárbara Martínez and talented guitarist Albert Alabedra, announce the upcoming release of their second album, ALMA!

ALBA means “dawn” in Spanish, and it is the name of their first album. It is also the first two letters of the founders’ first names. ALMA, which means “soul” in Spanish, features personal stories woven with universal themes of family, prayer, rediscovering joy, and finding happiness and beauty in nature and. It is also the first two letters of the founders’ last names.

Perseverance reflects the life story of Fabio Rojas until now 2024. The upbringing in Venezuela for 21 years witnessing the transition from a democratic/prosperous country into a dictatorship, and how it affected every single aspect of life. And 14 years as an immigrant in the US and the fulfilling of many dreams. The name itself is based on the quote: “el que persevera, vence”, which means “he who perseveres, wins”. And this quote has manifested many times in his journey, and how every goal demanded extraordinary hard work, never an easy path. The original compositions are based on this journey, experiences and figures that influenced and inspired him. I hope you enjoy this story as much as he has.

This album release show will feature David Bixler on Alto Sax, Gustavo D’Amico on Tenor Sax, Kevin Harris on Piano, Dan Loomis on Double Bass and Fabio Rojas on Drums.

New York-based guitarist, singer, and composer Eljuri has long entwined her music and her social activism, hence the term "artivist" as she has been described. She's also been called "a rockstar humanitarian" whose bilingual songs are about resilience, immigration issues, gender equality, gun control, the environment, and social justice. And they rock!

Eljuri (Cecilia Villar Eljuri) was born in Ecuador to Spanish and Lebanese parents but grew up in New York City. Her music and her guitar virtuosity are widely acclaimed; her sound has been described as "Manu Chao and Bob Marley meet Carlos Santana" as she fuses elements of rock, funk, reggae, Middle Eastern music, and Afro Cuban rhythms, the sounds of the rich melting pot that is New York City -- and America. Her music has been featured in five films, 20 internationally-syndicated TV shows, and over 50 TV shows across the Americas.

Performed with the rock band "Heroes and Villains" as a violinist, pianist, and backup vocalist, touring across Central Asia.

**Mila Elina** - Cellist and a visionary, performed with the chamber orchestra of the Philharmonic of Veliky Novgorod and the United Orchestra of the North-West of Russia. Played with rock bands and instrumental ensembles, along with many renowned musicians such as Daniil Kramer and Leonid Ptashka. Cellist with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra.

**Igor Yurovski** \- Drums, percussion, hang drum, composer, band manager. A musician, entrepreneur, and traveler, Igor has been involved in music for 18 years. Creates energetic rhythms on the drums and tranquil vibes with the hang drum.

Frisson Trio

The Black Sheep Collective are returning to Drom after their debut show in August, with a new concept called "Pieces." The show will collage music and art with multimedia performances, for a sensory experience. The Black Sheep Collective is an NYC-based DJ collective envisioned to you by anu, ZEM, and AMLA.DHAS. Inspired by global sounds such as Hindustani/Carnatic, Turkish, Tamil, Arab, and Afro origins, they work to blend these sounds with house, techno, and other danceable tunes. By mixing music spanning the world, they hope to create a space for those who thrive outside of expectations and boundaries placed on them, while building a curiosity that foregoes borders.

Dan Pugach is a GRAMMY® Award nominated drummer and composer, a three-time recipient of the ASCAP Foundation Jazz Composer Award, a winner of the BMI Charlie Parker Composition Prize/Manny Albam Commission as part of the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop, and a Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency Program participant at the Kennedy Center (where he worked with Curtis Fuller, Nathan Davis and George Cables). He was the featured drummer on the 2024 GRAMMY® Award winning album “How Love Begins,” co-produced by Nicole Zuraitis and Christian McBride.

Nicole Zuraitis is a GRAMMY winning and 2X GRAMMY-nominated jazz singer-songwriter, pianist and arranger, New York-based bandleader and winner of the prestigious 2021 American Traditions Vocal Competition Gold Medal. With a “heart as big as her remarkable voice,” (Jazz Police), Nicole has positioned herself as one of the top artists and "prolific songwriters" (Broadway World) to watch in jazz and beyond.

**Faltriqueira**, with over two decades of international acclaim, brings the soulful essence of traditional Galician music to stages across the United States. From the ancient roots of northern Spain's Celtic heritage, Faltriqueira seamlessly blends polyphony with traditional percussion and acoustic instruments. Their captivating performances are a testament to their pioneering spirit in revitalizing rigid traditions, infusing them with youth, naturalness, and an eclectic array of musical styles. Having graced renowned festivals and shared stages with legends of the folk music genre, Faltriqueira's music transcends borders, captivating audiences worldwide.

**Ariel Ninas** plays Galician-Celtic music with the hurdy-gurdy, a unique and rare instrument. His show is based on this repertoire along with his own creations, songs and instrumentals, based on the ancestral Galician tunes, hardly ever heard in the Americas as a soloist and virtuoso of the hurdy-gurdy. He plays music rooted in the Medieval times such as ballads from the 14th century; traditional dancing tunes like the genuine 'muinheiras' (similar to the Irish jigs); own compositions of vibrant instrumental music; mellow slow ' airs' grounded on the continuous basic sound of the drone of the hurdy-gurdy; and 'cantos de cego': 'songs of the blind'.
