We're very excited to have The Telescopes back, this time at Hackney's newest venue!

Bringing with them an amazing new album "Growing Eyes Becoming String."

Growing Eyes Becoming String is the sixteenth studio album from British noise-rock

pioneers The Telescopes. Recorded between Berlin and Leeds back in 2013, it’s a lost

Telescopes treasure that nearly never was, rescued from the ether and now finally set for

release by Fuzz Club Records.

The origins of Growing Eyes Becoming String go back a decade when, in 2013, The

Telescopes were invited to record an album at Brian Jonestown Massacre's new studio-in-progress in Berlin. With a line-up consisting of founding member Stephen Lawrie and

London psychedelic unit One Unique Signal.

On reaching Berlin, the group teamed up with good friend and author/visual artist Will

Carruthers (Spacemen 3, Dead Skeletons). Carruthers, also a skilled carpenter, built

soundproofing boards and recruited Anton’s producer at the time, Fabien Leseure, and

together they sourced equipment from all over the city and soon had a functioning studio

up and running. Between Boxing Day and New Years Day, most of the music for the four

tracks that would make up side one – ‘Vanishing Lines’, ‘(In The) Hidden Fields’, ‘Dead

Head Lights’ and ‘We Carry Along’ – was recorded, with Lawrie planning on finishing up

back in his own studio.

Prolific singer-songwriter Kathryn Williams and recently reinvigorated troubadour Dan Willson (aka Withered Hand) are on the road again in support of their collaboration album, ‘Willson Williams’, which came out April 2024 via One Little Independent Records.

‘Willson Williams’ witnesses the meeting of two likeminded musicians who’ve built their successful, independent careers on inventive folk instrumentation, reflective and sincere lyricism, and not a small amount of self-deprecation. Their modest confessionals, written poetically and over nostalgic and atmospheric melodies, are as relatable as ever, and together they find new ways to unpack their feelings.

Based in Edinburgh, Scottish indie folk-pop act Withered Hand is the solo project of singer/songwriter Dan Willson. A veteran of multiple bands in late-'90s and early-2000s Edinburgh music scene, Willson began his solo career after receiving an acoustic guitar from his wife as a 30th birthday gift. Migrating slowly from bandmate to solo artist, he began singing and writing his own loose, jangly songs, eventually releasing his debut EP, ‘Religious Songs’, under the moniker Withered Hand. Finding immediate success with the new format, Willson released a second EP in 2009 before teaming up with legendary American producer Kramer to make his first full-length album, ‘Good News’, in 2010. Kathryn Williams is often described as “a songwriter’s songwriter”, her timeless and searching work has earned her accolades, critical acclaim, and a loyal fan-base. In this new musical world when we talk about an artist’s body of work, we tend to think of a handful of records stretched out across of a handful of years, if we’re lucky. A changing industry and a focus on immediacy has done little to alter such notions, which makes Kathryn Williams something of an anomaly – releasing 12 full-length albums under her own name since her debut LP, ‘Dog Leap Stairs’, released in 1999. Adam Ross is a songwriter based in north-east Scotland. He has led the cult indie band Randolph's Leap for over a decade, releasing music with independent labels Fika Recordings, Olive Grove Records and King Creosote and Pictish Trail’s Fence Records and Lost Map Records. He released his debut solo album 'Staring At Mountains' in 2022. He is known for his intricate, storytelling lyrical style which often blends humour and poignancy.

May 2024 saw the release of a brand-new solo album produced by multiple Scottish Album Of The Year Award nominated composer and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Wasylyk and released on London label Fika Recordings. Arts bodies Creative Scotland and Help Musicians have supported and funded the album in recognition of what is one of the most exciting musical collaborations of 2024.

Progressive pop trio Tenacity carved their own niche in London's music scene with the release of their debut album, Long Faint Lights. They've spent their time since refining their eclectic sound, which draws on elements of electronic, ambient, rock, and jazz stylings, and developing new material with an emphasis on looseness and live improvisation.

Tenacity will be playing tunes familiar and unfamiliar alongside saxophonist Salvador Sin at Two Palms on October 6th.

BAIT presents a night of fluid and sweet psychedelia with a stellar line up of new soulful jazz names: stepping on a London stage for the very first time, the German based group ***Theodor*** will be performing their debut self titled 2023 LP at Two Palms, Hackney.

Cheerful melodic bass lines and the soulful acoustic drums built the playground for the warm and dreamy keys such as farfisa organs, fender rhodes and all sorts of 80’s synthesizers - spiced by the very different yet complementary voices of Max and Lui.

Joining them on the board will be the rising soul/new psychedelia London-based band ***Yuuf,*** whose warm tones and electrifying energy is collecting listeners scattered all across the globe. Brought together by a shared passion for exploring global sounds, these artists fuse their cultural influences to create global psychedelia instrumental music. They blend elements of Motown, West African rhythms and ambient textures as well as many other genres to create their own sound.

Black Market Karma are a Neo-Psychedelic group from the UK. Their sound is thick and colourful, the core of it rooted in 60's Guitar & Pop music, with layers of 90's Psychedelia, Fuzzed out tones and drunken grooves. They've incorporated touches of Folk, Blues, Lo-Fi Electronica, Hip Hop influenced beats and traditional Indian music. Hailing from London and now residing on the South Coast of England, the band have 11 albums in their catalogue, all written and self produced in their entirety by band leader and multi-instrumentalist Stan Belton. Hastings born singer-songwriter Poppy Prescott draws any crowd to silence with her soft soulful vocals and folk-style storytelling.

Growing up surrounded by musicians, Poppy begun performing live long before she was allowed to be hanging around music venues. Fast forward, some of her highlights include headline performances at The Troubadour London (Sold out), Pizza Express Jazz Club Holborn & Printworks Hastings, as well as festival slots at WOMAD, Hastings Fat Tuesday and support slots for Keane & Barbara Dickson.

Alongside her folk guitar playing, informed by Adrianne Lenker and Nick Drake, are eclectic accompaniments for fans of Radiohead and Sam Amidon. She's accompanied on stage by an exceptional band of collaborators Dan McConkey (saxophone), Myra Brownbridge (double bass), Keir Tyson (guitar), Liam Talbot (keys) & Josh Walker-Martin (drums).

Two self-written and released EPs later - both played on BBC Radio 6 - she's writing new material and playing around the UK having the time of her life.

The post-garage-punk and psychedelic power pop anomaly that is Chemtrails started out as the DIY bedroom recording project of romantic partners Mia Lust and Laura Orlova, evolving into a full band in 2016. Their uncanny talent for blasting out weird but irresistibly catchy pop songs was quickly noticed by Swedish label PNKSLM Recordings, who signed them just after their first gig — at Trans Pride Brighton. After relocating from London to Manchester in 2019, Lust and Orlova joined forces with a ferocious new rhythm section, putting the final piece of the puzzle into place. With Ian Kane on bass and Liam Steers on drums, the Chemtrails machine is now souped up with a turbocharged rhythmic engine, propelling the hook-filled songs to new levels of raw power, as the band sashays between sleazy punk, frantic krautrock and sardonically sassy grooves.

Served on a bed of twangy and fuzzy guitars, primitive synths and polychromatic pop, Mia Lust’s tongue-in-cheek lyrics tackle alienation, the absurd, the human condition, the impending apocalypse and, occasionally, her place in the world as a transgender woman. The band cites their biggest influences as Pixies, Blondie, Oh Sees, Fat White Family and sixties psych and garage punk, but what has always held the whole project together is the endless supply of catchy melodies, delivered with the band’s relentless excitement and energy.
