The Tubs were formed in 2019 by Owen Williams and George Nicholls, formerly of much-loved Welsh pop band Joanna Gruesome. The two hunkered down in rural North Wales to expand on the fuzzy, hook-laden sounds they propagated in their former outfit, this time incorporating elements of post-punk, traditional British folk, and guitar jangle seasoned by nonchalant Cleaners From Venus-influenced pop hooks & contemporary antipodean indie bands (Twerps/Goon Sax, et al).

Death and Vanilla utilise vintage musical equipment such as vibraphone, organ, mellotron, tremolo guitar and moog, to emulate the sounds of 60s/70s soundtracks, library music, German Krautrock, French Ye-ye pop and 60s psych. They revel in the warmth of older analogue instruments to create a more organic sound, each loose wire and off-kilter noise adding to the rich atmosphere.

Edinburgh-based cult-indie songwriter WITHERED HAND (Dan Willson) is back with his first new album in 9 years. 'How To Love' was recorded with Mogwai producer Tony Doogan in Glasgow, featuring guests King Creosote and Kathryn Williams. Withered Hand broke out of Scotland's Fence Collective music scene in 2009 released acclaimed debut 'Good News'. Second album 'New Gods' was nominated for the Scottish Album of the Year 2014. Now third album 'How To Love' comes out on 28th April on Reveal Records.

POZI come steeped in the lineage of the very best weirdo British indie pop with skittish, restless energy, drawing on influences such as Devo, Wire and Television, but without any guitars. Their songs cover a huge range of topics - gambling addiction and debt, the Grenfell Tower tragedy, Chinese human rights, Brexit, smartphone addiction, corrupt police, relationship jealousy and poor mental health provision.

They've been championed by Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Marc Riley and contemporaries like Idles, Squid and Sleaford Mods - yet they still feel like an underground secret. However with their second album out later this year, that might not be the case for long.

Brooklyn's JEANINES (Slumberland Records) specialise in ultra-short bursts of energetic but melancholy minor-key pop. With influences that run deep into the most crucial tributaries of DIY pop - Messthetics, Television Personalities, Marine Girls, early Pastels, Dolly Mixture - they've crafted a style that is as individual as just plain pleasurable. 60s-meet-80s melodies combine with timeless guitar jangle in a way that recalls everything from The Aislers Set and Saturday Looks Good To Me, to more recent DIY pop groups like Parsnip and Chook Race.

THE SCHOOL (Elefant Records) are a Cardiff indie pop band who play shimmering upbeat indie for fans of Belle & Sebastian, The Aislers Set, Alvvays, The Primitives and The Supremes.
