Adam Bohman and Jonathan Bohman have been recording together since their early teens and playing live since 1984.

Milkweed are a London based experimental folk duo. They use voice, guitar and banjo. They describe their sound as slacker-trad, which is both true and somehow insufficient. In 2022 they released Myths and Legends of Wales, which saw them hit on a formula that has served them well ever since: a short album inspired by the discovery, manipulation and interpretation of a specific folkloric text. In this case it was a 1984 title by Tony Roberts. The Mound People followed in 2023, this time inspired by a 1974 text on preserved bronze age human remains by Danish archaeologist Peter Glob. Most recently, Folklore 1979 (2024) takes the text of an academic journal published by the Folklore Society and turns it into a set of brief, beguiling songs.

Having toured as main support for Squid and Cola as well as playing packed out tents at festivals like End Of The Road and Green Man, Blue Bendy have struck a balance between being obviously skilled musicians, writing complex, layered, overlapping and ambitious compositions, while also utilising space, breadth, and restraint. Their music is bursting with dynamism, exploring push-pull dynamics that results in something ceaselessly unpredictable.

It results in a sound that is rare for a new band: as experimental as it is confident and assured, as tender as it is visceral, as quiet as it is loud, as bloody as it is teary.

The Holloway proudly presents the first edition of FEN FEST, a night dedicated to the rural sonic sounds from the depths of theFens.

The night will showcase a selection of dark, ambient, drone, doom and more from 4 musicians from the underrepresented landscape of the Fenland district. Bringing the myths and legend of the isolated area through sonic arts we are extremely excited to be bringing you these acts into our fine city.

THE BREEDLING (CHRIS SPALTON) – comes from the depths of the fens and has been circling the periphery of the music scene for years via his art, design, and video for several notable artists (Part Chimp and Hey Colossus to name two). This is his first foray into music-making and his debut release. These songs come from a particular place and a particular time, realised through modern technology. Spalton has taken an inquisitive, DIY approach and attitude to the way he uses sound.

SLOUGHED started from an incident in hospital where I was left with 2nd & 3rd degree burns and simply discharge. So this harsh noise project is used to incorporate all the sounds around me and to create the harshest possible reflection of fenland life.

Saul Adamczewski, guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer with Fat White Family, Insecure Men; and collaborator with many of your other favourite artists will be playing songs from his cult album ‘Adventures in Limbo’.

Stevie Wishart is a composer, improviser, and performer on the hurdy-gurdy and violin. Mainly involved in contemporary music, she has also had a career in early music and has edited and recorded the complete works of Saint Hildegard of Bingen, as well as performing music from the repertoire of the medieval troubadours, trouvères and the Cantigas de Santa Maria, with her ensemble Sinfonye.

Wishart was educated at Cambridge, Oxford and the Guildhall School of Music, studying composition and electronic music at the University of York with Trevor Wishart and Richard Orten. She then studied improvised and aleatoric music with John Cage and David Tudor.

Farabi Toshiyuki Suzuki is a Japanese sound artist who plays several musical instruments: shamisen (japanese traditional string instrument), guitar, bass, synthesizer, percussion, self made instrument, as well as singing.

London-via-Manchester 3-piece The Early Mornings most recently released their 2nd EP ’Ultra-Modern Rain’ (Practise Music) which shows, once again, their knack for crafting tight and spiky songs, bringing a metamorphic mix of hooky pop and unpredictable tangents. Minimalism gives way to big, distorted sections, striking a balance between bitter and sweet. This is also reflected by vocalist Annie Leader, with her dead-pan singing sharing space with poetic lyrics and infectious melodies. 

Step right into the electrifying world of Frank Lloyd Wleft. Hailing from North London, this multi-talented artist infuses country, punk, poetry, and jangle into a concoction that's truly one-of-a-kind. 

Lassie are Norwich based duo Emily Winng and Camille Davila presenting psychedelic folk laced with twangy-punk and hard hitting harmonies.

Able Noise is George and Alex’ experimental baritone guitar and drum duo, based between The Hague, the Netherlands and Athens, Greece. Through the use of voice, tape and alternative methods of playing their instruments, they create a minimal and visual musical performance.

Their output is primarily focused on live concerts, letting their music be shaped by the physicality of their playing, the acoustic and aesthetic properties of the space, and the dynamics formed between themselves and their audience. Their recorded work relies less on their respective instruments, and more on an assemblage of field recordings, heavily processed instrumentation, and exploratory mixing techniques. They released their debut on the Glasgow label GLARC in 2020, and their debut LP 'High Tide' was released on the 1st of November 2024 through London label World of Echo.

Yama Warashi. First founded in Bristol circa 2015 and centred on a close-knit coterie of gifted collaborators led by Shigihara, the output of Yama Warashi has since flourished across one EP and three albums, from the graceful spiritual jazz of 2016’s ‘MOON ZERO’ to the evocative, psychedelic dreamworlds of her debut album ‘Moon Egg’ - released in the same year - to the existential, Bon Odori-inspired music of 2018’s ‘Boiled Moon’. Relocating to London, after being drawn to the city by its open-minded music scene - especially the activity centred around Cafe OTO and the Total Refreshment Centre - Shigihara released ‘Crispy Moon’ in 2022, unfurling even grander, more lavish depths within her multifaceted soundworld. Enriched by the kaleidoscopic influence of Japanese folk dance, free jazz, African music and psychedelia, Shigihara illustrates the ever-evolving qualities of Yama Warashi on ‘At My Mother’s Piano’, crafting exquisite, improvisational solo piano works interlaced with vivid field recordings, inspired by a trip back to her family home in Ashiya City, Hyōgo, Japan in 2024.
