cryer mya is the moniker of South London via Bristol songwriter, Rishi Saluja. The project emerged in 2024 as he began capturing new songs in his bedroom. His Debut Single, became one of Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds’ and the project has since received support from BBC introducing (Jess Iszatt) as well as Tom Robinson’s (BBC 6 Music) Fresh on the Net.

For fans of Andy Shauf, Nick Hakim, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Nick Drake.

Citizen Live, by arrangement with Ponderosa Music & Art, is happy to welcome back Demian Dorelli, in the stunning location of SJQ, Dalston, on Sunday, February 23rd.

Music for Demian Dorelli is the prime mover of his soul. From the moment he was a baby, listening to JJ Cale and Pink Floyd while drifting off to sleep in the back of a speaker, to composing his own music on a synthesizer and drum machine in his bedroom, music has been his constant companion. His influences range from Keith Jarrett and Madness to Tchaikovsky, Herbie Hancock & Einaudi, among many others. However, the most significant aspect of his career is his profound connection with the enigmatic English songwriter Nick Drake.

In 2021, Demian released “Pink Moon, A Journey on Piano,” a reinterpretation and homage to this masterpiece that celebrated its 50th anniversary.

He recently released a new single “The Thoughts of Mary Jane,” a track that offers a tantalizing glimpse into his upcoming album, “Five Leaves Left, Echoes on solo piano”, set to be released on February 21st, 2025. This album serves as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Drake’s passing. A captivating new work which focuses on the musical nuances with which Drake began his career, establishing a connection to Dorelli’s own musical beginnings.

Irini Arabatzi is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and performer. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, she began her music journey while growing up in Brussels. After performing all around Greece and with some of its most famous artists, she moved to Scotland to continue her education and met with artists like Corto. Alto, Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and Fergus McCreadie.

With a rich background in jazz (Guildhall School of Music) and world music from Brazil to Middle Eastern music, Irini's recent EP "Songs for them" released in June on Albert's Favourites, showcases her unique sound, blending haunting melodies with vibrant beats. Her deeply personal songs weave a tapestry of emotion and groove, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary music. Each track on her EP that was produced with her brother Manolis Arabatzi, offers a deeply personal glimpse into her artistic soul, creating a sonic experience that's both introspective and danceable.Don't miss the chance to experience Irini’s enchanting performances, where her distinctive voice together with her excellent band and eclectic influences come together to create an unforgettable musical journey.

Charlotte Carpenter is the perfect embodiment of independence; out there, doing it on her own. This isn't some 'strong woman’ cliché, this is a nominative determinism; place a piece of wood in her hand and she will use it to craft something of value to the world around her.

Between 2014-2019, East Midlands singer-songwriter Charlotte Carpenter made her name by releasing a series of heavily championed EPs. Her raw, soulful songwriting was widely heralded with comparisons to the likes of Cat Power, Bonnie Raitt, and PJ Harvey, and coverage from tastemakers from The Line of Best Fit and CLASH, through to rock bible Classic Rock, with support from BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2; and UK-wide tours alongside Marika Hackman, George Ezra, Liz Lawrence, to name just a few.

Eat Your Own Ears present Mariam The Believer at SJQ.

Mariam Wallentin is an artist with a big heart, as thoughtful as she is musically bold. An Alice Coltrane for our time. Soulfulness meets music that makes us feel and think. With musical roots partly in improvisation and new music, partly in pop and soul, Wallentin’s career has crossed a number of multifaceted territories; Wallentin is one half of the vocal-and-drum duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums, who has over time made an impact in the world of musicians, focusing on honest and raw compositions structured around vocal melodies and rhythm patterns. The duo have collaborated with and supported artists like St Vincent, Joanna Newsom, Mica Levi and Caribou.

Wallentin has also worked with renowned musicians such as Feist, Damien Rice, Hildur Gudnadottir, Lykke Li, and saxophone-player Mats Gustafsson to name a few. She has won the Swedish Manifest prize, the Jazzkatten prize, has been nominated for the Nordic Music Prize and several times for a Swedish Grammys.

With her uncompromising approach to music, Wallentin also started her solo-project Mariam The Believer, in order to focus her expression into a more pop-oriented project, but with an air of jazz, the touch of soul, the receptiveness and enchantment of spiritual music and the spacious richness of improvisation.

Adrian Crowley releases his 10th album 'Measure of Joy' on 7th Feb via Valley Of Eyes Records. Produced by John Parish, the album is full of delicate and beautiful songs, and features backing vocals from Nadine Khouri.
