The history of the Cro-Mags is integral to the history of Hardcore, its evolution from punk and the development of alternative music genres such as hardcore, cross-over, thrash metal, post punk and grunge to name a few. Numerous iconic bands from Metallica to Green Day, and individuals such as Dave Grohl have credited Cro-Mags with having had a primal influence on their development.  
Born out of the violence and depravity of the Lower East Side of New York in the late 70s and early 80s, the Cro-Mags was the brainchild of a very young Harley Flanagan (at the time 14 years old) when still playing with the Stimulators. By 1982/83 he wrote and recorded the very first Cro-Mags demos consisting of 4 songs that would become the blueprint for the seminal 1986 “Age of Quarrel.” He wrote all of the music, played each instrument and sang. Before long he connected with Parris Mayhew and the two started writing music and auditioning band members.  
After several line-ups, 5 studio albums (beyond the original demos) and 30 + years of tours around the world, Cro-Mags remains one of the most iconic hardcore bands with arguably the greatest reach beyond the genre.

Zeta is a collective art piece (primarily known for their musical aspect), that honors the ideals of resistance against the unjust treatment of living beings and cultural/racial prejudices. Their expression can be perceived audibly, visually, gastronomically, and poetically through the many different mediums that they choose to express (music, film, design, cuisine, etc).   Started in 2003 in a little town on the coast of the Caribbean Sea called Lecheria. Known as the smallest municipal function in Venezuela - the city is only 7 square miles and houses 79 thousand inhabitants. Hailed as “la ciudad progresista” or - “the progressive city”; Lecheria is encircled on the water by the islands of Mochima national park and hugged on land by Puerto La Cruz and Barcelona, maintaining an ever present flow of multicultural traffic. Previously known as San Miguel De Neveri- Lecheria was home of the cumanagoto tribe- which was one of the most prominent indigenous family who resisted and fought the colonization.   Sonically the group is defined by its strong emphasis on dense polyrhythmic percussion that sway from profoundly authentic Afro-Caribbean to the most crude and raw punk with atmospheric elements that are drawn from 70’s era Psychedelia and post-rock to form a intense and unique listening experience. Zeta is also known for touring relentlessly - and due to their nomadic nature they foster and adopt artistic communities of “Nuestra America” (term used by José Martí -1891)

The five-piece band was founded by journalist and songwriter Jael Holzman to have fun singing Jell-O sweet melodies about modern living over thrashy licks and relentless drums. Equal parts inspired by classic punk rock acts like The Stooges and today’s art pop, their 2022 debut QUARTZ has been called a “propulsive mix of garage rock shagginess \[with\] the harrowing vocals and chilly guitar tones of your favorite punk bands.”   Holzman grew up in Rockville, Md. She loved singing early as a child, learned how to play guitar at age 11 and wrote songs for bands throughout high school and college. In the beginning there was Thump… The primordial groove of the Universe. Thump thumped its way through all things. In the beginning groove was harmony, and harmony was groove, and it was good.

Long before the age of humans, the Thumpasaurus roamed the Earth, serving the cosmos as the teachers of the Thump. The thump traversed all beings, and the Thumpasarus helped distribute its secret wisdom to all sentient and non sentient creatures. It was good. As time passed and the Earth fluctuated between periods of great peace and great unrest, the Thumpasaurus became a threat to growing forces of evil- who fueled by a primary motivation in consumerism sought to eliminate the Thumpasaurus. To save the species and protect the goodness of the Universe, The Thumpasaurus fled the earth to the outer reaches of space time - though the Thumpasaurus swore to return to the Earth as harbingers of the age of reawakening. In their last gift to the consciousness of the cosmic manifestation of the Earth and its beings, the Thumpasaurus wrote down the secrets of the Thump in a manuscript of real troof and buried it in a sacredly SECRET location (the appalachian mountains) in hopes that the Thump would survive and benefit future generations with happiness, love and thump. As buildings turned to sand, and memories to dust, so too did the ancient memory of the Thumpasaurus and with them disappeared the philosophy of Thump.

Crywank was started in Manchester in 2009 by Jay Clayton as a solo project despite having no previous experience playing guitar. The project started the night Clayton learnt their first two chords and wrote the songs Welcome to Castle Irwell and Thomas Saunders Gang Chant). Lyrically focusing on the end of their first relationship and musically heavily influenced by American folk punk and anti-folk, their first album ‘James is Going To Die Soon’ became a cult favourite on the internet, both for its charm and many flaws.   After their first release Crywank began to play with and subvert the role of singer songwriter. Shifting the focus from self-pity to self-criticism and fluctuating from hard-hitting confessionals to tongue-in-cheek deconstructions resulted in Crywanks paranoid ‘sad-but-fun’ sound. Dan Watson (ex-GNOD, Denim & Leather) joined the band in 2012 on percussion and began to implement approaches and influences not often seen within ‘anti-folk’, at points going into d-beat and blastbeats.  Crywank have since self-released seven records and have amassed a dedicated following online.

Someday Is Today is Living Hour at their most pensive and longing. It was recorded over seven days during the depths of a Manitoba winter, with the band cocooned in sounds as the temperature hit -30 outside. “It’s a grind, and it’s incredibly challenging in a frustratingly beautiful kinda way,” Sarty says of their local environment. “It pushes you to keep going, to keep finding glimmers to move forward. A silver piece of wrapper sticking out a snowbank becomes your altar. The big grey sky gets me giddy.”

Iris James Garrison and Alex Harwood come together as Bloomsday, the Brooklyn-based indie pop duo formed in 2019. The band is fronted by Iris (they/them), who writes with warmth and darkness in the quiet hours where shadows and ghosts rise to the surface. Over the course of 2020, Bloomsday’s debut album 'Place to Land' was recorded as a collection of songs written throughout Iris’ transition. The songs weave through periods of loss, upheaval, hope, fear and setting oneself free. The album explores the yearn to find homes in other people, places, addictions or memories; ultimately finding a place to land within the self. Founders Aidan Murtagh and Dave McMaster reformed the band and shows followed across Europe before the band were invited to tour Japan. Protex continued to tour intensively and in 2014 were invited to play the prestigious South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. They returned the following year and have become regulars at the festival, often playing there as part of larger US tours.  
In 2016 Protex concentrated on completing the album Tightrope and signed to Bachelor Records. Tightrope was released in early 2017, before the band returned to the USA with a tour that began with a sold-out New York show and finished with a festival appearance in San Antonio.  
With touring on hold during the pandemic, the band concentrated on recording a new album Wicked Ways, released on Bachelor Records in August this year. And with tours already coming together for Europe and the US, 2023 is already looking like another busy year for Protex.

Grafting the smarts and strong point of view of indie rock with the tough, retro influences of garage punk, Des Demonas are a band from Washington, D.C. that includes several talented veterans of the local underground music scene. Des Demonas feature Jacky Cougar Abok on lead vocals and percussion, who was born in Kenya and previously played drums in Thee Lolitas and Foul Swoops. Guitarist Mark Cisneros' résumé includes stints with Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds, Medications, and Deathfix, while he also played drums with the Make-Up and Benjy Ferree. Keyboard man Paul Vivari was also one of Cisneros' bandmates in Benjy Ferree, and spins vintage R&B sides at D.C. clubs as Soul Call Paul. Bassist Joe Halladay was previously a member of Citygoats, and drummer Ryan Hicks is a veteran of the group Suns of Guns. For fans of never knowing wtf to expect comes Dim Wizard, a new project from Washington, DC's David Combs that will feature a different sound and cast of contributors from song-to-song. Their debut single "Whole Lotta Nothin'" features Erica Freas (RVIVR) and Patrick Jennings (Hot New Mexicans, Purple 7), with production by Joe Reinhart (Hop Along) and Amos Pitsch (Tenement).  
The whole idea of Dim Wizard is to subvert expectations; each song can go in whatever direction serves it best, without the constraints of a band identity. Most artists had to figure out new ways to create during the pandemic but David essentially started a different long-distance band for each recording—with different producers, vocalists, and instrumentalists for each song.

Sneaks is the minimalist post-punk project of Washington, D.C.-based musician Eva Moolchan. Finding a middle ground between ghostly indie pop and spaced-out hip-hop, Sneaks' music is a witty blend of chanted or spoken-word vocals over a bed of lo-fi bass, drum machine, and minimal keyboards. Her music was at its most skeletal on her first self-titled cassette, released in 2014 and expanded and reissued as Gymnastics in 2015. The simplicity of the tracks was reflected in their brevity, with only one of the songs running over two minutes. 2017's It's a Myth bulked up Sneaks' sound without abandoning her stripped-down aesthetic, while later releases, Highway Hypnosis and Happy Birthday, saw her step forward into a more ambitious approach, incorporating a broader range of keyboard sounds and samples without betraying the atmospheric tone of her formative work.

When we last left the arguably interesting adventures of Cheekface, they'd released the minor phenomenon "Emphatically No." The band's sophomore album bowed at #1 on Bandcamp's alternative and vinyl sales charts, became a college radio staple, and propelled the L.A. talk-singing trio into packed houses of Cheek Freaks across the US. So I guess now is a good time for Cheekface to return with their third LP, "Too Much to Ask."  
You might say "Too Much to Ask" builds on the strengths of the first two Cheekface albums, but also refines and evolves their sound a little, and why would I argue with you? The band's songwriting battery of guitarist/singer Greg Katz and bassist Amanda Tannen show their lyrical trademark, a strangely inviting sad and sideways wit, right from the jump -- "life hands you problems, make problem-ade," they announce in the almost-unglued 1-minute-25-second album opener "When Life Hands You Problems" -- and then across the record's 11 tracks, the band proceeds to make hay out of many of life's mysteries.

Wiki has become a fixture of New York City Hip Hop since, at 17 years old, he founded the boundary defying group Ratking, whose aggressive style represented a new generation of city kids and artists, hungry for innovation and raw energy. The epicenter of the group as well as Wiki’s artistic expression through music and style was Chinatown, downtown NYC. Ratking’s breakout single was called “Canal” named after the iconic, bustling Chinatown street. Coming of age in the neighborhood, living there for years while creating his solo albums, inevitably laced his music with the culture that permeates the singularly New York, Chinese neighborhood. His song Chinatown Swing off his first LP No Mountains in Manhattan paints a picture of walking through the neighborhood and the feelings and sites one encounters. When painting lyrical pictures of New York scenes one gets a sense of Wiki’s skill as a story teller and visionary. He has solidified his role in carrying the torch for NYC’s master MC’s; representing for the freaks, weirdos and underbelly culture.

Living together in famed Syracuse house venue Scarier Dome hosting shows for touring bands, producing live video sessions, starting a screen printing business while also learning the ins-and-outs of self-recording and releasing records was the foundational stepping stone upon which Petite League was created. Lorenzo Gillis Cook, songwriter and composer, along with drummer Henry Schoonmaker, came out of the gates swinging with their signature infectious lo-fi power pop releasing their two first records before graduating from college that same year. Petite League’s melodic sun kissed brand of indie rock started the buzz right away with some immediate industry, streaming, and publication recognition which helped propel the band forward from the jump. The band continued to shape itself into a staple of the New York indie rock scene as the band moved to Queens in 2016 enlisting the help of other ex-Scarier Dome residents Adam Greenberg and Kevin McCallum as part of the live band. The DIY mindset of operating Scarier Dome is still the backbone of what Petite League runs on to this day as they continue to release music prolifically, cultivate their online presence, and tour throughout the United States.
