It’s been five years since The Breath released their debut album ‘Carry Your Kin’, and to celebrate, vocalist and flautist Ríoghnach Connolly with guitarist Stuart McCallum return to one of Greater Manchester’s most eclectic venues, Mash Guru (where they played ‘in the early days’) for a special concert. Streamed exclusively by, the pair perform a special career-spanning set that includes some much-missed songs and a never performed bonus track from that very first album.

On 'Carry Your Kin’, The Breath delved deeply into the spaces between rock and folk, where mesmerising guitar riffs and expansive folk arrangements created a swirling sound framing Ríoghnach’s impassioned and intensely charged voice. Today, the singer-songwriter duo are renowned for their stripped bare performances that find a depth and beauty in their heartfelt songs allowing their extraordinary connection to shine through.

Stuart’s perfectly measured guitar combined with Ríoghnach’s intoxicating voice and exceptional storytelling earned The Breath a nomination for Best Duo/Group at the 2019 BBC R2 Folk Awards while Ríoghnach was awarded Folk Singer Of The Year. Following the performance, The Breath chat live with Nick Hobbs (Charmworks Agency, writer, performer) about their music, how they met and much more, while viewers can ask Stuart and Ríoghnach their own questions. Filmed by Luca Rudlin for Staring People and sound by Lorien Edwards. With special thanks to Pete and Jane from Mash Guru, Macclesfield.

The show will be streamed worldwide and will be available 24 hours following the initial stream.
