The evolving soundtrack of Ireland, Imagining Ireland showcases the most exciting creative artists at work today.

“I’m proud to be Irish, I’m proud to be African, I’m proud to be who I am.” God Knows told the New York Times in 2018. 2020 has seen the spotlight on a thriving hip-hop scene around Narolane – the work of Denise Chaila, God Knows and MuRli.

Word and music meet in the work of Denise Chaila, a Zambian-Irish rapper, singer and poet hailing from Chikankata, Zambia and based in Limerick. Her music blends spoken word and rap to give voice to the sound of a transatlantic odyssey.

The two people who have been with her since day one: Rusangano Family’s God Knows and MuRli Bo. God Knows brand of arresting, conscious hip-hop is still labelled by many as “Irish hip-hop”. But with major international media like The New York Times, Vice and The Guardian all taking note, “Irish hip-hop”, is creating a groundswell and God Knows is at the helm.

MuRli is a rapper, producer and songwriter from Limerick, Ireland 1/3 of the Choice Prize winning trio Rusangano Family. He has been building his story telling abilities and charismatic stage presence for some time and shared stages with the likes of Run The Jewels and Young Fathers. The concert will be available to tickets holders for 24 hours following the performance
