Twin Princess

Philadelphia’s synth-pop-sun, doom-country-rising Twin Princess forge a mirrorball-lit realm in Blood Moon , their first full-length album, set for release this May 2023. Its shimmering, gloom-tinged songs carry a fanged tenderness, a vulnerable resilience — through vibrant emotion and a steady candor, the mundane becomes mystical. Here, revelation and renewal can happen in the cold light of a midnight CVS; revisiting and reevaluating memories of a city or sidewalk or bathtub that changed you proves as transformative as the lived moment; flowers poking through snow in winter become omens of perennial desire.

Led by Pauli Mia (she/her) on vocals and synth, Twin Princess features Adam Dasilva (they/them) on guitar, Kirby Vibek (he/him) on drums, and Eric Schueler (he/they) on bass. The band began as a duo project between Mia and Ryan Ficano (he/him), who served as the lead engineer and producer for the album. Blood Moon honors and elevates the precedents set by 2020 debut EP Fraise and its 2021 stripped-down piano reimagining, Fraise: Side B.

Like the astrological significance of its namesake, Blood Moon is about change: the cycle of running and rapture and reflection necessary to, as Mia says, “\[break\] down the self to make room for new healing” — again and again and again.

Shannen Moser

Despite spending most of the last decade living, working, and nurturing their craft in the city of Philadelphia, Shannen Moser’s sound remains rooted in their upbringing in rural Pennsylvania. Tributes to the pastoral hillsides of Berks County echo through their music, evoking images of learning to sing along to Townes Van Zandt in the passenger seat of their dad’s pickup or along with the Sacred Harp choirs in Quaker meeting halls. In 2014 Moser packed up their roots, along with influences from freak-folk artists like Joanna Newsom and early Animal Collective and moved to Philadelphia to focus on recording and performing. Those privy to these performances and recordings quickly became captivated by a sound that was both haunting and infectious, showing promises of songwriting genius and a powerful voice.

Over the last half decade they have continued to develop and refine that voice. Now, on the verge of releasing their third full-length record, Shannen Moser is hitting their stride as a musician and a writer. They’ve shared the stage and toured with acts such as John K Samson, Kevin Devine, and Manchester Orchestra, and moved audiences all over North America with their profound ability to conjure emotion.

In Lieu of Roses

In Lieu of Roses are the self-proclaimed Baddies of Emo and nice folks of Rock and Roll. The Philadelphia based band released their first EP “Please Send” in late Spring of 2022, drawing inspiration from artists like A Great Big Pile of Leaves, Manchester Orchestra, Pavement, Codeine, Neil Young, and War.

Sunday Evening Drive

Born in the Shenandoah Mountains and shipped to Philadelphia via Highway 81, Sunday Evening Drive combines the anthemic bravado of Springsteen with the earnestness of 80s synthpop to create something as exciting as it is catchy. Playing under the moniker since 2019, SED’s live show takes hook-filled pop songs and infuses them with frenetic energy, made for basement clubs and stadium tours alike. For fans of Future Islands, New Order, and the Human League.
