On Saturday, October 26, APLR and Seán Johnson & The Wild Lotus Band warmly welcome you to a night of interactive, soul-stirring chant music to benefit BeLoved Asheville, who have done tremendous and tireless work to help rebuild our community after the devastation of Helene. Please join us for an evening of fundraising, community building, and live music.

**Seán Johnson and The Wild Lotus Band**

Experience heart-expanding ancient mantras, given new voice through dynamic songs that merge conscious lyrics and New Orleans roots, rock, gospel, and world grooves.

The band includes Seán (vocals and harmonium); Alvin Young (6 string fretless bass & guitar); Gwendolyn Colman (percussion & vocals); Narada Wise (drums) and multi-instrumentalist Chris Rosser.

”The music of Seán Johnson & The Wild Lotus Band flows from the mystical confluence of the Ganges River and the Mississippi Delta—the deep bhakti tradition of Indian devotional chanting fused with the cultural cross-currents that so enrich the music of the group’s hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. The result is music of majestic musical and emotional range—a heart journey from darkness to light, wrought from the homespun cloth of gospel, blues, soul, country, rock, Celtic folk, and other musical influences, all filtered through the magical Afro-Caribbean-inflected rhythmic flair of the Crescent City.

**BeLoved Asheville**

BeLoved Asheville began with a small group of people who believed that we need each other and that we can do far more together than we can do alone.

Believing that we all need a village, BeLoved’s central focus is community. We listen to people. We walk with people. We strengthen the fabric of our community by celebrating and struggling alongside our friends and neighbors, moving towards solutions that build upon the assets we see all around us.

From that small seed, thousands came bringing their energy, their gifts, their hopes, and dreams. Our community has grown into a powerhouse organization making a major difference here in Western North Carolina. Food access, deeply affordable housing, racial equity, healthcare on the streets, cultural celebrations, enrichment and school supplies for our kids – we dream towards possibilities and strive to show up together and be whatever our community needs, whenever the need is there.
