McDermott & North are the acoustic, song writing duo from Brisbane who draw inspiration from the ingenious simplicity of the swinging 60’s era music. Their folk/indie pop songs, complete with catchy melodies and coated with lush melodies, present the perfect mix of the Beatles meets Dope Lemon.
Drawn together by a chance meeting at an open mic night, Patrick McDermott and Rhys North formed ‘McDermott and North’ in 2016. Since then, they've graced the stages of Hidden Lanes Festival, Caloundra Music Festival and Bluesfest Byron Bay. Their all original material has captured the hearts of many, with their astonishing vocal harmonies and honest songwriting proving to be a standout.
They're taking to the road this March to tour the east coast in support of their single, "Everytime (I'm A Little Bit Like You)' complete with an appearance at, A Day in the Orchard Festival. The song describes the emotional turbulence felt through the complications that young relationships often bring. The song’s dynamic plays to the up & downs of youthful love, with its soulful vocal harmonies carrying across the weight of feeling in every note.
The single follows up from their debut release, five-track EP ‘The Lemon Tapes’ - achieving no.14 on the Apple Music Singer-Songwriter chart. The lead single, ‘Broken Girl’ was played on radio globally, receiving feature in Australia from Triple J and a live performance on prime-time, ABC Breakfast radio.
