The enigmatic Grizzly Bear have been gracing us with their fusion of psychedelic indie folk since 2002. Incorporating traditional and experimental electronic instrumentals and vocal harmonies, for a sound wholly uniquely to the NYC outfit.
Originally beginning life as the casual home project of frontman Ed Droste, he'd occasionally invite current members Daniel Rossen, Christopher Bear, and Chris Taylor to collaborate on his recordings. Finally regrouping as an official quartet in 2006 they released Yellow House. Yet it was their 2009 release Veckamist which made people stand up and take note, as it reached the No.8 spot in the US Billboard Top 200 Chart and made the Top 30 in the UK Album Charts.
After a whole five years since their last record Shields, they spent the better part of two writing and recording the eleven new compositions on their forthcoming album Painted Ruins. Taylor produced their 5th LP with sessions taking place primarily at Allaire Studios in upstate New York, and at various locations around Los Angeles, including his own Terrible Studios.
Having finally returned in May with their inspiring and sublime new single Three Rings. It's everything you could hope for from a band's comeback. Allow yourself to be captivated by their hypnotic sounds, and don't think twice about hitting book now.
