Norwegian Jenny Hval has had a career that’s hard to define. She’s fronted a metal band, released five LP’s under two different monikers and even wrote a master's thesis on Kate Bush.
Her boundary-pushing take on pop props the songstresses’ soft vocal on top of elements taken from folk, shoegaze and prog rock, but it’s her honest and metaphorically challenging lyrics that really push Hval into a league of her own.
Enigmatic and ever-evolving, Hval released Apocalypse Girl last year, collaborated with Kim Myhr plus an 11-piece jazz orchestra and toured with Perfume Genius and St Vincent. Now is a perfect time to catch this forward-thinking songwriter at Soup Kitchen.
