We're delighted to have Dry Cleaning at The O2 Kentish Town Forum for their biggest show yet.
Guitarist Tom Dowse, drummer Nick Buxton, and Lewis Maynard had been friends and musical collaborators for years, forming Dry Cleaning after meeting researcher and visual artist Florence Shaw at a karaoke night. Before long she was the group’s frontperson, her dryness, wit, and linguistic acrobatics acting as the perfect counter to the musicians’ taut instrumentals.
Their two thrilling EPs, 2019’s Sweet Princess and Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks, received universal acclaim and their indeosycratic live shows gained attention for the contrast between the stillness of Shaw and the emphatic energy of Dowse and Maynard. They swapped influences from Black Sabbath to Augustus Pablo to Yuzo Koshiro as they travelled. “when we got back to writing, we felt like we were drawing very organically from a collective palette.”
Their debut album, New Long Leg, is out April 2021.
Ticket price includes a £1.50 venue levy and £1.25 fulfilment fee.
