FATHER JOHN MISTY
A prolific figure in folk-rock for over a decade Josh Tillman has released CD-Rs, albums, EPs, soundtracks, and everything in between, reaching critical heights with his second full-length the stunning I Love You, Honeybear.
Picking up a huge 8.8 Best New Music from Pitchfork, five out of five from The Guardian, and nine big ones from the NME, it was his second record as Father John Misty, a masterpiece of inventive musicianship, lyrics that cut with humour, insight, and honesty, all wrapped in beautiful production.
His third studio adventure Pure Comedy is an album teeming with confessional lyricism and cinematic vivid storytelling, and his recent releases seem to be on track to continue, this time just in bitesize doses. His flamboyant sound is obvious in Disappointing Diamonds Are the Rarest of Them All, an immediate and engaging 2.5 minutes of piano-powered, pop held, jazz inspired sounds.
