A sax man who has played with the likes of Charles Mingus, Max Roach, Miles Davis and Art Blakey, Gary Bartz’ half century long career has not been short of artistic milestones. Since going solo, he became a pivotal figure in the jazz fusion movement, recording such legendary works as Juju Street Songs and Altissimo.
After joining forces with UK's leading spiritual jazz outfit Maisha to sell out the Royal Festival Hall last year, who themselves released their excellent debut There Is A Place to critical acclaim on Brownswood in 2018, they have all reconvened together in the studio to write a brand new joint album, that will be released on Night Dreamer in the spring.
