What matters most? Freedom or equality. Should we all be free to go out and find whatever job we want, spending those proceeds however we see fit or should we all be working together to ensure that nobody is left behind? Does the ability to get rich inspire glorious aspiration and entrepreneurial spirit, or does it encourage exploitation and greed? Is hierarchy a natural expression of merit, or an insulting, self-perpetuating cycle of maintaining the suffering of the poor? Join Simple Politics head honcho Tatton Spiller for an impassioned, honest look at the pro's, con's and everything in-between.

This talk will look at the single biggest political battle of the past 100 years. What should be at the heart of the way the country is run? We've been a capitalist society for many centuries, but the status quo isn't always the best foot forward. The free market may have been in place while millions in the UK and billions around the world have been lifted out of poverty, but socialists would argue that millions have been left behind. It'll look at the arguments for both a capitalist society and a socialist nation, before pitting both visions of the future against each other.

Tatton Spiller is the founder and director of Simple Politics. The project was set up in 2015 with the goal of improving conversations about politics across the country, making them more tolerant, better informed and more respectful. He's used the skills found as a teacher both in schools and at the Houses of Parliament, and, briefly, as a journalist.

Since 2015, SP has become the go-to place for clear, accurate and impartial information on both the day to day goings on and a deeper understanding of ongoing issues and ideologies. Over the 2019 election, they reached over four million people on social media. Tatton has also become a sought after voice in the media, featuring on BBC Two's Politics Live, Sky News, BBC 5Live, TalkRadio with Eamon Holmes, BBC Scotland, BBC Wales, BBC Radio London with Vanessa Feltz and various other local radio stations.
