Folk-hop blues with a hint of afro-funk is the order of the day for Honeyfeet’s overdue hometown headline show at Deaf Institute.
Lauded by the Guardian as “a remarkable singer and flautist who…can ease from Irish traditional influences to soul”, frontwoman Ríochnaugh’s melodies are a floating dream. Her folk lilt melts over Knocking On Another Man’s Door above a jazzy ambience before reversing into a foot-stomping bar chant — exactly the kind of theatrics you should expect from their love show.
Prepare to be unprepared and grab a ticket for June.
