Fiercer than ever, Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog agit punk trio are bringing aggressive funk, deconstructed flamenco, and scathing punk to the stage of Marble Bar June 8th!! The noise rock band (Ribot on guitar/vocals, Shahzad Ismaily on bass, Ches Smith on drums) merges funk backbeats with the taut chaos of Sonic Youth and flashes of Woodstock Santana. As enjoyable as it is experimental, their live performances are an experience hard to define and easy to praise.

Over 40 years, 25 albums, and numerous collaborations, Ribot’s explored everything from the pioneering jazz of Albert Ayler to the Cuban son of Arsenio Rodríguez, refined new Americana with Tom Waits and The Black Keys, and become the guitar guy for all kinds of roots-music adventurers fro Robert Plant to Elton John.

Shahzad owns Figure 8 Recording in Brooklyn, New York, and has an impeccable history as a session musician (Yoko Ono, Marc Ribot, Bonnie “Prince” Billy) and as a producer.

Coined by The New York Times as “One of the wiliest drummers on the experimental scene,” Ches Smith, also a percussionist and composer, has collaborated with a host of artists on many scenes since the early 2000s. He has nine records to his name as a bandleader that feature his writing and ensemble curation, and is a devout student of Haitian Vodou drums.

Ceramic Dog’s compilation of styles and quirks are pulled off seemingly effortlessly and leave a bite of an imprint that funk, punk, and rock music lovers will never forget!!
