ES DEVLIN WITH CARLO ROVELLI

The Order of Time featuring BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH

Bold Tendencies is excited to announce a major live event with artist and designer Es Devlin. Collaborating with producer and songwriter Fraser T Smith this special evening will present five monumental audio-filmic works - each some 30 metres wide - with contributions by Dave, Beatriz Colomina & Mark Wigley, Simon Armitage, Albert Woodfox and Kano.

Confronting the universal anxieties we face today, the words are taken from Fraser T Smith’s forthcoming album 12 Questions, part of his project Future Utopia. Together these voices offer an eclectic search for truth, enlightenment and purpose—glimmers of a compass on turbulent water.

Es Devlin’s durational works at Bold Tendencies are spectacular live projection experiences specially imagined for the car park rooftop after sunset. The evening will also present The Order of Time, her work from 2018 which takes its inspiration from Carlo Rovelli’s bestselling book. The piece uses text written by the theoretical physicist and the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch and draws from the hypnotic quality of Rovelli’s own reflections on the strange nature of time, being and transformation.

The two live works will be linked by a roundtable discussion moderated by Zoe Whitley, Director, Chisenhale Gallery, London with Es Devlin, Fraser T Smith, Simon Armitage, Carlo Rovelli and special guests.

Frank’s Cafe will be open for food and drinks from 5 pm. There will be a full-service bar available all evening.
