TOM'S FILM CLUB: THE LAST WALTZ (U)
On Thanksgiving Day 1976, The Band gave its farewell concert at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco.
Perhaps the greatest rock documentary ever made, Martin Scorsese’s film captures what was advertised as the legendary rock group’s final appearance on stage (they did eventually reform, but how was he to know?)
Featuring archive interviews from the players of the time, and joined on stage by more than a dozen special guests, including Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Van Morrison and Joni Mitchell, this film is not only a vibrant documentary of that historic evening, but also a commentary on the rock world at that time.
This is a 14+ event (under 16s to be accompanied).
