MOUNTAINS AND WAVES: SESSION SIX
Mountains and Waves is a weekend of shows celebrating new American music, curated by The National’s Bryce Dessner.
Opening this final session of the weekend, a new composition created by Dessner and Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry that takes inspiration from the rhythms and soundscapes of the ocean. Field recordings combine with soaring strings and crashing instrumentation to create a piece that’s both impacting and reflective.
Closing the night, a rare performance of Steve Reich’s seminal and greatly influential Drumming by the highly revered So Percussion ensemble from New York who’ve previously collaborated with the likes of Matmos, Dirty Projectors, and Dan Deacon.
Presented by Barbican.
