For the second collaboration between Foundations & Tropicalé, they bring Afriquoi down for a special DJ set, alongside Tropicalé Sound and their heap of residents. If you've ever been to a Tropicalé party, you'll know this isn't one to miss - and if you've never been to one, now's the perfect time to get introduced to their carnival-inspired carefree party ways.
With members spanning three decades and three continents, Afriquoi are a homage to a truly globalized 21st Century, one in which music has the power to transcend all of the artificial boundaries it is presented with – whether that be age or origin. At the core of this band’s identity is a fervent desire to make uplifting dancefloor-friendly music for a new generation of world music fans and also to make something completely unique and authentic at the same time.
It’s not often that anyone manages to instil pure unadulterated joy into their tracks, especially in the often harsh and gritty world of dance music... but Afriqoui do it with ease. A cocktail of Afro-Latin tradition bound together with the pulse of UK club music, their live and DJ sets are always a spectacle, often ending with tired feet and a sea of unwipeable grins. Foundations and Tropicalé team up for a very special DJ set in the basement, complete with the trademark décor, confetti and party bags. Loosen those feet.
20p from each ticket sold on DICE will be donated to The Clock Tower Sanctuary, a local day centre for 16-25-year olds who are homeless or insecurely housed.
Presented by Foundations/Tropicalé.
