Celebrating 40 years of bringing fans, artists and music together in shops across the country and now the globe, Rough Trade are making this landmark birthday about you. The champions of all that’s raw and innovative are presenting a series of extra special nights of collaborations and performances from the likes of John Grant and Wrangler, Scritti Politti and Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor, The Raincoats collaborating with Angel Olsen and more.

Josh T Pearson’s last London headline a year ago at St John at Hackney. This October, on the Social’s close stage, he’ll deliver blows to the chest with his tender and unheroic stories of late nights and failed relationships all with a seething and honest edge that’s as compelling as it is uncomfortable.

Joining him on the night, headliners in their own right Duke Garwood and Smoke Fairies who’ll collaborate especially for the evening, poet Will Burns and pedal-steel guitar player Adam Chetwood. Plus DJ sets from Nigel House, Nick Stamey, and Jof Owen.

Join Rough Trade for an evening they hope will show off the rude health of music made in the apparently simple mechanics of voice and guitar, and pushing the boundaries of the rough folk traditions of both the UK and America into new, exciting, literate spaces.

Presented by Eat Your Own Ears & Rough Trade.

This is an 18+ event.
