Nigerian Afro-jazz sensation Etuk Ubong and immersive jazz innovator Ben Lamar Gay of Chicago present a heavy-hitting double header this April Bank Holiday weekend.

Etuk Ubong has exploded onto the UK jazz scene, becoming one of the most in-demand trumpeters around. Drawing inspiration from the greats, as well as his deep love for afrobeat and highlife, his explosive sound is groovy and irresistibly danceable - perfect for a Saturday night takeover. In April he'll release his second full album on Night Dreamer, recorded straight to vinyl in Amsterdam, which will be available exclusively at the show ahead of its release.

Joining him on the bill is lauded Chicago vocalist, cornettist and composer Ben Lamar Gay. Following the release of 2018's Downtown Castles Can Never Block the Sun, Ben Lamar Gay has solidified his reputation as a composer of genre-hopping eclecticism and a lynchpin of the Chicago experimental scene.

We can't wait to see his full band debut at The Jazz cafe, completing an adventurous line up of boundary-pushing talents.
