“Four nerds playing music and shit at the doors of hell.” That’s Mourn’s self-written motto. And with an age range of 15-19, they’re some damn impressive, prodigal nerds.
The Spanish quartet was born out of friendship, taking influence from the likes of Pixies, Sleater-Kinney, and Patti Smith. They recorded their debut self-titled album in just two days and in amongst songs like Misery Factory and Your Brain Is Made of Candy there’s an early, raw energy reminiscent of early Sonic Youth.
Their last London headline was a charming and shambolic assault of raw guitars and unbridled promise. Having spent this summer on the festival circuit and releasing instant new single Gertrudis, Get Through This!, this Lexington show is set to catch fire.
