**Late Breakfast** presents a night of new, exciting ensembles capped off by the deconstructed trip-hop of Sagittaire & Ascetic Faces. The duos of Tyson Thurston & Max Jaffe and Elaine Carey & Pauline Lay will also perform.

**Ascetic Faces** is the new project lead by Los Angeles based musician **Sagittaire** (Ivan Mairesse). Mairesse assembled 12 different musicians across Los Angeles that perhaps would typically not cross paths; Brynne Faler, Marcel Andrie aka Mellow Marcy, Rebecca Ramirez, Elijah Pouges aka brz, Alejandro Salazar, Mike Connaughton, Alex Degroot, Miles Jay, Ryan Sailsbury, Matthew Sater, Julianne Gralle, and Rubin Hohlbein. This diverse group mirrors the collage-like process that was involved in structuring the songs, which juxtapose sonic material from traditionally separated cultural poles in an attempt to build musical cohesion.

Taking cues from the Massive Attack group model, which extinguished the common approach of designating a single ‘front-person’, Mairesse assembled the Ascetic Faces collective, hand-picking specific singers and players with a particular communicative power that could add new color and dynamism to his ideas. The collective features R & B vocalists Brynne and Mellow Marcy, producer/M.C. brz, and members of the art-rock band rincs.

**Max Jaffe and Tyson Thurston** create uncanny structures of dense sonority and elastic rhythm utilizing Feedback Synthesis and Sensory Percussion. Their work stems from deep individual histories of collaboration in the experimental rock and contemporary composition worlds of Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. Jaffe is known for his work with JOBS, Amirtha Kidambi’s Elder Ones, Rubblebucket, Delicate Steve, and many other groups as a founding or touring member. His music expands the boundaries of possibility for composition and collaboration through the drum set. Thurston is a performer, composer, and improviser from Los Angeles & Chicago. His current focus is in the peerless field of speculative spectralism; synthesizing hypothetical acoustic spaces via complex networks of digitally-generated feedback in just intonation. He owes a debt to Eliane Radigue, Cecil Taylor, Harmonia, politically-charged 90's west coast hardcore, Tristan Murail, Lee Perry, Anton Webern, and John Luther Adams.
