Upper Street, London N1 2UD
Hailed as "one of the groups pioneering the new-wave of UK jazz music" by Boiler Room, Ezra Collective is the award winning band with roots from Tomorrows Warriors.
They have worked with some names, including rappers Pharoahe Monch and TY, as well as opening for jazz legend Terence Blanchard and sellout headline shows at Ronnie Scott's earlier this year.
Their powerful music is marked by the strong influence of Afro Beat, Reggae and Hip Hop brought together through a deep understanding of jazz to create their own unique sound. Their first EP Chapter 7 received glowing reviews, and this show is their only London date in 2017 for the launch of their new EP Juan Pablo The Philosopher, so expect new material performed with all the ferocious energy that this group has become renowned for.
With Clash Magazine's stamp of approval, they said of their latest single Space is the Place "this radical overhaul retains the spirit of the original while blasting it into a UK centric vision of the future. Quietly inspiring, the stunning musicianship is allied to that innate sense of groove that Ezra Collective specialise in."
The night has an impressive lineup with support coming from rising stars London based Afrobeat 7-piece KOKOROKO + a DJ set from THRIS TIAN, the hugely respected Brownswood/Worldwide.fm music selector and one of the original architects of Boilerroom.tv.
