Jon Moore and Matt Black met over the strobe-lit dancefloors of free parties and bonded over vinyl in the vibrant record stores of 80's London. Together they formed Coldcut, a group that transformed the boundaries of what dance music was, is and could become.
Introducing ravers to rap via their "class cut-up aesthetic" of hip hop rhythms and acid-house grooves they caught the mainstream appeal with their monumental remix of Eric B and Rakim’s Paid in Full.
Now with three decades tucked underneath their belts the duo founded imprint Ninja Tune, have created art installations, and continued to put politics as a priority, by doing continued DJ sets for Greenpeace at Glastonbury. Roots Manuva, Lee "Scratch" Perry and Toddla T on their latest album Outside The Echo Chamber, highlighting their craftsmanship and dedication to always staying ahead of the grain.
