Fran & Flora are a collaborative project between cellist Francesca Ter-Berg and violinist Flora Curzon. Together, they create ethereal and soulful laments that tell the tales of their travels across eastern Europe and beyond. Their debut album Unfurl (released 15.2.19) is a collection of their musical stories and is the culmination of three years creative studio work with producer and musician, Sam Beste (Hejira).
The overwhelming response they received from releasing Unfurl has accelerated their growing reputation across the UK, gaining widespread critical acclaim. They have appeared live in session on BBC 4’s Woman's Hour, Radio 3’s In Tune, Cerys Matthews’ 6 Music show, Soho Radio and Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM. Active contributors to London’s vibrant music scene and known as collaborators with many ground-breaking artists including Sam Lee and Talvin Singh, Fran & Flora mesmerise their audiences, selling out venues across the UK. At Hackney Old Baths, expect the duo to deliver an intimate evening of music that is by turns, vibrant, mournfully expressive, and creatively imaginative. Joined by very special guest Skylla - the solo project of composer and bassist Ruth Goller, featuring herself on bass guitar and vocals, as well as outstanding UK vocalists Lauren Kinsella and Alice Gran - this evening is a must for fans of music that tows the line between classical and contemporary.
Earth Cruises donates 10% of profit from all shows to carefully selected causes. Fran & Flora have chosen Migrateful, a non-profit organisation that empower and celebrate vulnerable migrants and refugees.
