Ariel Glassman is an award winnng composer and performer who has an array of experience in jazz guitar performance, jazz voice performance, and full ensemble composition and arrangement.

Ariel has been recognized for her 2019 composition “Approved” by ASCAP’s Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers Award . She performs her compositions with her own band, “The Ariel Glassman Big Band”, which she leads and conducts. Her music combines the intensity of a large band with the energy of modern musical influences such as rap, hip hop, R&B and pop.

Tonina is a singer/songwriter, bassist, and music journalist from St. Louis, Missouri. She has appeared on Barack Obama's playlist and was named one of NPR's Best New Artists. She performs her original music along with her arrangements of covers in Spanish and English. She is now signed to Empire Records and performs her music around the world.

Mary Halm is a Chicago-based upright and electric bass player and composer who enjoys the rich and diverse music scene in Chicago.

Hailing from the West Suburb, St. Charles, Mary began her musical journey in school orchestra programs at age eight. While attending St. Charles East High School, she was encouraged by mentors and friends to delve into her love for jazz music. It was during high school that Mary first attended Birch Creek Fine Arts in Egg Harbor, WI, and this is where she realized that music would be part of her life’s path.

She further pursued her passion for jazz music at DePaul University and earned her Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz Studies in 2019. She is currently in the first year of her Masters of Music in Jazz Studies, also at DePaul.

Since moving to Chicago in 2015, Mary has had a variety of performance opportunities in the city. She has played at venues such as the Hungry Brain, the Green Mill, Elastic Arts and Fulton Street Collective, with a number of groups and genres ranging from avant-garde jazz, to R&B, to singer-songwriter/folk music. She also had the opportunity to play bass for The Fly Honey Show—an annual feminist cabaret—at the Den Theater in 2018 and 2019.

In any performance situation, in any style of music, Mary enjoys evoking feeling and inspiration in listeners by sharing a part of herself through sound and space.
