UMUT ADAN
Bad Vibrations welcomes Istanbul's Umut Adan to The Shacklewell Arms for a free show on September 18th.
While studying political sciences, Adan was frontman to various psychedelic bands and in 2009, he released his first 7” single (Gülerler Bize/Beni Seçtiğin Bu Yerde) to critical acclaim. The Wire Magazine described it as a “very cool debut by a Turkish underground guy who seems to have fully absorbed the nearly forgotten lessons 1970s Anadolu rock scene”.
After being selected by Jack White as the opening act for his Istanbul concert, he was invited by Liam Watson (who recorded The White Stripe’s Elephant) to his London studio to record his debut album. Adan's music is rich with vintage instruments and analog systems, conjuring the spirit of 1960s and 70s protest music.
