North London producer, DJ, composer and multi-instrumentalist, Jasper Tygner releases ‘Things To Come’ his first EP for Ninja Tune’s Technicolour imprint. The project features singles “When Ur Near”, live favourite “Eyes” and the kaleidoscopic “Before Me”. In celebration of the release, Jasper will be playing Mixmag’s iconic Lab LDN today at 6pm.

‘Things To Come’ sees Tygner change up his songwriting approach, finding inspiration outside the studio and utilising collaborations with vocalists and musicians to enhance his own sound. The EP was greatly informed by his dynamic live performances, building on big breakdown moments and experimenting with variations of texture, speed and overall feeling. Tygner adds, “Rather than focusing on samples as much as I have done previously, I worked with a few different vocalists for this project writing original songs. It's totally changed the way I make music. Not just being collaborative on the EP but working with people to enhance your own sound. It was a really rewarding process and everyone brought something different and exciting to the EP.”

This evolving sound is evident in the opening track “Before Me” which sparkles with a kaleidoscope of arpeggiating synths and euphoric vocals before employing grounding basslines and a driving beat. The sweeping “All I Need Is” sees Tygner collaborating with rising London vocalist Leslie Fields - who previously contributed vocals to salute’s standout single “Wait For It”. Lead single “Eyes is perhaps the most informed by the stage, with each buildup and subsequent drop primed to get live audiences going. Closing out the EP is “When Ur Near”, an ethereal track that was created in just one hour with South London multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer Benjy Gibson. These tracks showcase the music Tygner loves and, like the EP’s name implies, offer a taste of what’s to come.

Shaped by early raving experiences whilst growing up in London’s electronic underground scene, Jasper Tygner cites legendary institution Plastic People, along with a deep reverence for jungle, dubstep and garage, as key formative influences. During the lockdown of 2020, Tygner started a series of Instagram “bedroom rave” live videos, featuring him performing on an array of drum machines and analog synthesisers. His on-the-fly performance series gave viewers a first hand look at songwriting and production processes for many of his songs, while offering previews of their live renditions. These would very quickly garner the attention of dance music heavyweights, including Bicep, KiNK, Disclosure and DJ Seinfeld. In 2023, Tygner went on to release collaborations with DJ Boring, Pretty Girl and Art School Girlfriend.

Jasper Tygner was recently tipped as one of DMY's "Artists to Watch 2023" and Amazon Music's "Ones To Watch". He’s seen further support on BBC Radio by the likes of Danny Howard, Sarah Story, Pete Tong, Sian Eleri, Jaguar, The Blessed Madonna and Jack Saunders, while providing guest mixes for Rinse FM, Foundation FM and Baalami. Tygner’s impressive live repertoire utilises an arsenal of keys/piano/analog synthesisers, which was showcased at notable festival performances including Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle, Glastonbury and Field Day; along with headlining shows in London, New York, and LA. Tygner continues on a set of live performances in Europe throughout the summer before heading to the US at the end of September and Australia this October.
