In 1964, John Coltrane and his Classic Quartet went into Van Gelder Studios and, in an unprecedented move for Coltrane, recorded new versions of some of his most famous works. Join us for a global listening session (a day before it’s release) hosted by CUNY Professor Jim Mcelwaine (former member of the cosmic-dixieland band, “Balcones Fault”), Fuji (Yasuhiro Fujioka) who runs the Coltrane House (Japan) and co-authored the book; The John Coltrane Reference and jazz writer/historian Clifford Allen. Clifford will take over the decks until 1am with some jazz gems all vinyl, of course.

This is a free event open to the public.

Presented by Public Records.

This is an all ages event.
