Public Records collaborates with Montreal's MUTEK festival to present a rare extended dj set from hyper-detailed microhouse pioneer Akufen. Expect meticulous sampling sensibilities paired to flamboyant four-on-the-floor glitch funk for both highbrowed audiophiles and those who instinctively understand groove-ology. Sourced entirely from shortwave radio samples, his 2002 debut LP My Way was dubbed the 12th best album of the decade. On August 22 Akufen celebrates 20 years along with MUTEK presenting his new live material.
With support from the Québec Government Office in New York.
20 YEARS OF MUTEK: MUTEK Montréal invites new yorkers to its 20th edition, running from August 20 to 25: six days and nights of audiovisual performances, live electronic music and a full theatre of experiences that will push the boundaries of digital art and engage you in the city's playground. This year, the festival week also integrates the 5th edition of MUTEK_IMG, a forum on current practices in digital creation, which runs three full days, from August 20 to 22. Covering mixed realities, artificial intelligence, and new iterations in audiovisual spectacle, the event provides a high-level context for professionals, practitioners, researchers and creative companies to reflect, exchange and get inspired.
Presented by Nano Mutek & Public Records.
