January 7, 1983: Voïvod is officially birthed.

After a couple years of seeking the right chemistry, establishing direction, and, in some cases, learning how to play their instruments, the four basic forces – Away, Snake, Piggy and Blacky – officially fire up the engines of their roaring post-apocalypse machine.

January 7, 2023: Voïvod begin tracking an album in RadicArt Recording Studio.

It’s their 16th studio endeavor, and one of a rather different sort, even for them. The project revisits songs from a wide variety of Voïvod eras, recorded by the current core four: Away, Snake, Chewy and Rocky. The album, Morgöth Tales, also features a new song of the same name, recorded especially for this occasion.

Spanning 40 years and 15 studio albums, five official lineups, countless tours, creative shifts, changing tides, road accidents and unspeakable tragedies, this entity, born in Jonquière, Quebec, Canada, has persevered and gathered hordes of dedicated followers for one of the most fascinating rides in metal’s storied and ever-growing history.

**PRONG**  
Their fans had to wait six long years for the arrival of a new album by American metal act Prong. Not only because of the pandemic with its countless uncertainties and upheavals but also because of a number of pleasant events in the private life of singer and guitarist Tommy Victor.

But now Prong are back with a real bang: Their latest offering, ‘State Of Emergency’, has turned into the fascinating recording we had all hoped for, with the usual irrepressible energy of a group that has been at the forefront of the metal scene since the mid-eighties, and with lots of ideas that couldn’t be more typical of this band: “It’s a very ‘Prong’ record. I think it’s totally genre-transcending and definitely ignores what’s going on out there these days,” band founder Victor outlines the stylistic direction of the eleven songs. Commenting on his artistic approach, he says: “I like all kinds of music. This record totally reflects that because it covers lots of different angles. At the same time, ‘State Of Emergency’ is very guitar-oriented and a typical example of my style which consists of a blend of punk, metal, post-punk noise, some doom, blues and thrash, with some pretty straightforward vocals. All in all, there’s an aggressive East Coast flair to the album.”

**VIOLENTEER**

Omaha, NE brothers Randy and Barry Cotton create dual bass-guitar driven sonic landscapes that pummel, but in an instant can soar into massive ambient architecture, while drummer Corey Thumann's hypnotic and steady drumbeats hold the quaking beast of it all together. Kansas City's Steve Tulipana, known for his manic and introspective howling in seminal noise rock bands Season to Risk, Roman Numerals and Sie Lieben Machinen, recently joined the band to add a vocal component that is as much lyrical as it is tonal in his use of vocal effects, both electronic and bodily produced; also adding samples and synthesizers to ice the giant cake of doom that is Violenteer.
