Spending her early years experimenting with artists in Atlanta, Georgia in the height of the 90s US underground explosion, Chan Marshall built the roots of her art creating emotionally revealing and impacting tales that ride guitar lines and narratives with stunning effect, adopting the name Cat Power.
Catching the ear of Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley, he worked with Power to release her debut album Dear Sir in 1995. The following decade has seen Power become one of the most compelling and acclaimed performers on the planet.
Releasing her ninth album Sun in 2012, her sets prowled a fine line between sunshine euphoria and unnerving honesty with moments of endearing tenderness. Playing two dates at St John at Hackney Church it’s a rare chance to see this beautiful artist in an equally stunning venue and tickets won’t be around for long. Act fast.
