**Time in the Wilderness** is a DC-based quintet made up of veteran musicians from various corners of DC’s diverse scene, coming together to create original instrumental groove-based soundscapes. Never comfortable with any one label, Time in the Wilderness blends genres, bends time, and transports listeners into uncharted musical territories on the sonic space jazz continuum. The musical dialogue starts with a pair of drummers (Brad Samuels and Paul Aquilino) who craft a unified pocket of polyrhythms, starting a topic with bass player (Mike Landis) on both 4-string and 6-string tic-tac bass, juicing the hook. Themes are cultivated, nurtured and destroyed on meandering planes established by guitar, synth and other sonic devices (Andre Radloff). Soaring and catchy, masterful trumpet (Ralph Burrows) transports us to other spheres. TITW’s latest release, Transmissions Vol. 1 offers six tracks recorded live in January 2024 is available to stream or download from the usual sources.

Like many experiments, **A Promising Local Band** was devised in a basement lab in Bethesda, Maryland, and then unleashed on an unsuspecting DC public. Only time, and perhaps space, but definitely the internet, will tell us when these intrepid psychedelic fusion explorers with strike next. Stay tuned, dear listener.

**Andrew Toy** uses percussion as a starting point for composition and sonic exploration. In the studio and on stage, Andrew twists, distorts, and re-arranges the sound of the drums beyond recognition to create soundscapes that are both intense and atmospheric. By re-imagining instrument roles and creative processes, Toy has crafted a sound that blends post-rock, minimalism, world music, and electronica with the energy of live drums. His debut album Guardrails was released in 2021.
