THIS TICKET GIVES YOU ACCESS TO ALL 4 EVENTS OF MASAFAT FESTIVAL.
Co-produced across the UK and the Arab world, Masåfåt debuted in London, Cairo and Beirut last year. The festival returns this September, full of insightful panels, workshops, and lucky for us, intimate gigs performed by innovative artists at London's ICA.
Avant-gardist Oren Ambarchi extends guitar music beyond recognition and on Saturday, he'll perform with electronic experimentalist Mark Fell, Oud player Sam Shalabi, percussionist Will Guthrie, visual artist Mark Fell, and Egyptian sing-songwriter Nada El Shazly.
Producer and Rinse DJ Mumdance has become one of the UK’s emerging music-makers, bolstered by the collaboration between himself and rising grime star Novelist via XL. Working with his sonic sparring partner Logos, and Berlin DJ Shapednoise to form The Sprawl, the trio will carve industrial electronica on Friday.
Gaika fuses dark electronica with dancehall to create a truly unique sound with an equally strong message. On Saturday, expect his auto-tune wrapped, patois-tinged monologue to melt over dragging synths and warped syncopation, all whilst dismantling security, privacy and police brutality.
Sunday's headliner is Cairo-based musician (and founder of VENT) ZULI, who weaves together computer music, battered hip-hop and deconstructed dance music, bringing the sound of Egyptian underground electronic culture to a London stage.
With many more playing, this will be four days of the most innovative sounds London and the Arab world has to offer.
Presented by 33 33 & ICA.
This is an 18+ event.
