As the singer of French avant-pop troup Stereolab, Laetitia Sadier was quick and fidgety, with lyrics spitting out with seemingly no blueprint but upmost intensity.
As a solo artist, releasing on Chicago label Drag City, home to Ty Segall and Joanna Newsom among others, she makes music that's altogether more considered and controlled, but no less weird and compelling. Chosen to support Neutral Milk Hotel on their 2014 comeback tour, Sadier is making her stamp on her own, and her PJ Harvey-esque tales are winning hearts across the board.
