One of the most respected figures in alternative music, Brownstein broke barriers with Sleater-Kinney, pushing the feminist punk underground into popular consciousness. She then took satirical pops at an alternative culture in Portlandia, knocked out a huge record of joyous riffs with Wild Flag, before re-forming with Weiss and Tucker to release the fearsome No Cities To Love earlier this year.

Formidable and astute, Brownstein’s wit, intelligence, and inventiveness shines through in everything she does. Now publishing Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl, a book mapping her early life in the Pacific Northwest through her multitude of achievements, it promises an illuminating and gripping read.

Join broadcaster and journalist Nicola Meighan in conversation with Brownstein as she digs deeper into the book’s context and the author’s life. An evening to remember, tickets will sell out fast.

Waterstones will be present at the event, selling signed books for £15. Please note that there will be no signing session on the evening, with Carrie kindly pre-signing all books before the event.

Presented by TYCI & Glasgow Women’s Library.

There is no age restriction for this event.
