Leading light violists Pavone and Cimini from the East and West Coast come together in LA and are joined by a new local quartet, featuring violist Ezra Buchla, with Mattie Barbier, Judith Berkson and Corey Fogel in tow.

As an instrumentalist and composer, **Jessica Pavone** explores tactile experience in her compositions and performances for solo viola. She has produced four albums of solo viola music, with these structured yet indeterminate pieces stemming from intensive long tone practice and an interest in repetition, song form, and sympathetic vibration.

This concert in Los Angeles celebrates the release of the fourth, When No One Around You is There but Nowhere to be Found, on Relative Pitch Records.

**Amy Cimini** is a musicologist and violist in San Diego who works on questions of power, community and technology in 20th & 21st century experimental music, sound art and auditory culture. Her first book, Wild Sound: Maryanne Amacher and the Tenses of Audible Life is forthcoming with Oxford University Press and she is co-editor of Maryanne Amacher: Selected Writings and Interview (Blank Forms Editions, 2020) with composer and theorist Bill Dietz. In addition to playing in numerous groups, she makes solo music that critically explores the local music, sound recording archives, and soundscapes in San Diego.

The evening fills out with a quartet of daunting dreamers: **Mattie Barbier** on trombone, **Judith Berkson** on keyboards, **Ezra Buchla** on viola and electronics (you can never have enough viola in one night!!!) and **Corey Fogel** on drums. Let the good times unfurl.
