Vibrafone player, composer, producer and conductor, the Frenchman Simon Moullier is one of the best vibraphone players and, in general, one of the best jazz musicians of his generation. Born in Paris in 1994, Moullier picked up the mallets for the first time at secondary school. He immediately stood out as an original, virtuoso instrumentalist. Trained in classical percussion, he completed his studies in the USA, at the Berklee College of Music and the Thelonious Monk Institute at a time when he was appearing on stage with figures of the calibre of Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, John Patitucci, Danilo Pérez, Miguel Zenón and Jimmy Heath, and taking part in recordings by Mark Turner and Kendrick Scott, among others. Moullier has performed at the biggest clubs and festivals in the world. “One of the best vibraphone players I’ve ever heard,” as Quincy Jones describes him, comes to the Jamboree for the first time.
