JOHN JOSEPH BRILL
If you were to put John Joseph Brill's music in a record collection it would fit somewhere between The National, Nick Cave and Wild Beasts. The Liverpudlian creates haunting emotional sounds that just get better with every listen.
With a deep baritone that slowly burns over crisp layers of soft guitar, Brill's debut EP Pieces highlighted all his talents, but it was his songwriting that stood out the most. Clash said that "Rather like whisky, it's designed to sit on the palette a while, to be slowly absorbed and appreciated".
After impressing at a number of festivals this summer, Brill will be playing this headline show at the stunning St Pancras Old Church.
