The UK’s leading stoner rock, doom, psych & heavy music event, Desertfest, returns for its 11th edition next May 5th - 7th 2023. Returning stronger than ever thanks to the unyielding support of a steadfast fan base, Desertfest is now entering its eleventh year in May 2023. As the UK’s leading stoner rock, doom, psych & heavy rock festival, Desertfest prides itself on diversifying line-ups and providing a platform for renowned acts & lesser-known artists to play an array of venues to differing crowds within the underground music scene.

Desertfest London rounds off the year with an ear-shattering bang, announcing a mammoth forty-three artists to their 2023 line-up. Joining the likes of Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Graveyard, Kadavar & Church of Misery, the Camden-based festival will welcome back Corrosion of Conformity as headliners.

Pioneers of a groove-laden sound that is undeniably their own, Corrosion of Conformity have not been back on UK soil since 2018 so expect big, loud & memorable things from their appearance at Desertfest next year. Corrosion of Conformity have been due to play the event since 2020 - making their return one of the most widely requested in the event’s history.

Japan’s own avant-garde maestros of down-tuned psychedelia Boris leap over to London, alongside the crushingly loud tones of NOLA’s own Crowbar. One of the most exciting bands in recent memory King Buffalo, make their long-awaited debut. Plus, Desertfest favourites Weedeater are back after 5 long years of chugging whiskey lord-knows-where.

The pace moves up a notch with New York City’s noise-rock guru’s Unsane and British punklegends Discharge, all of whom bring a detour from the slow’n’low sounds the festival is best recognised for. Montreal’s Big|Brave will play the festival for the first time showcasing their experimental & minimalist take on the notion of ‘heavy’, whilst the doors to the Church of The Cosmic Skull are open, as they ask Desertfest revellers to join them in a union unlike any other.

Desertfest also warmly welcomes noise from STAKE, British anti-fascist black metallers Dawn Ray’d, London’s loudest duo Tuskar. As well as some ome of the best recent stoner acts in the form of Telekinetic Yeti, Weedpecker & Great Electric Quest. Elsewhere the weekend will also see Wren, The Necromancers, Dommengang, Samavayo, Morass of Molasses, Sum of R & GNOB offer up unique live performances.

Formed in 1977 to promote Ian Durys’ album New Boots and Panties on the first Stiff Records tour of the U.K. – Chaz Jankel, Norman Watt-Roy, Charlie Charles, John Turnbull, and Mick Gallagher – became known as The Blockheads.

As Ian Dury & The Blockheads they went back out on tour, and in 1978 released What a Waste, a single that reached #5 in the U.K. charts. They were then joined by saxophonist Davey Payne and toured the U.S.A supporting Lou Reed.

In 1979, the classic single Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick reached #1 in the UK charts and the follow up Reasons To Be Cheerful Part 3 hit #3 in the UK charts. This was swiftly followed by arguably the band's masterpiece, the Do It Yourself LP.

Ian Dury & The Blockheads disbanded in 1982 and did not play again until the early 1990’s when they reformed to perform at the ‘Madstock’ festival in Finsbury Park headlined by Madness.

Walter Trout's backstory is a page-turner you won't want to put down. Five decades in the making; it is equal parts thriller, romance, suspense and horror. There are musical fireworks, critical acclaim and fists-aloft triumph, offset by wilderness years and brushes with the jaws of narcotic oblivion. There are feted early stints as gunslinger in bands from John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers to Canned Heat, and the solo career that’s still blazing a quarter-century later. The veteran bluesman has seen and done it all - plays earth shattering blues rock music.

However fast or far a man travels, he can never truly outrun his past. Walter Trout knows this better than anyone. As he embarked on his 30th solo album, Ride, the iconic US blues-rock guitarist found himself eyeing the horizon and the green shoots of his triumphant late career. There was a new record deal with Mascot/Provogue. A move from California to Denmark with his beloved family. Even now, aged 70, Trout was still writing fresh chapters of his life story.
