Joining us will be Daz & The Demons - fronted by Aussie ex-pat and neighbourhood gentleman Daz Corduex - who make catchy songs cut from a sonic rolodex of doo wop, 70s power, 80s jangle & 90s Brittania. Plus it's Daz's birthday so you have to come.

One time a person really wanted to climb Mount Everest and then eventually they got to do that. Another time a different person (not the same person as the Everest climber, they didn't have that much free time) was born in a war-torn country and both of their parents and all of their siblings died in an explosion. This person then decided they didn't want to be in a war-torn country anymore but instead they wanted to become an engineer in the United States. Eventually they got to do that. Another time a third person (not one of the other two but coincidentally they have the same birthday as the Everest person) only had one penny in their bank account. A couple years later, they are now the CEO of the world's richest company and they give a lot of money to charity.

These real and fake stories are inspiring. But they are not as inspiring as the story of Koobie, a person who liked football and wanted to play for his favorite football team, a D-III college football team.

The mosaic is an artistic technique, created through the

intentional combination of multiple, diverse elements which

come together in a new form to decorate walls, floors or

ceilings, replacing the paint or tile with a vibrant reminder that

the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts.

The Dominican musician Billo Frómeta used this term to

describe a sound experiment, wherein different rhythms and

styles are combined within a single song, without breaking the

beat or making atonal modulations.

Under this creative spirit of mixture and heterogeneity, we

present the first edition of MOSAICO, an audio and dance

ceremony where we will draw a map of Latin American and

Caribbean sounds that will celebrate the cultural and

historical value of one of the most diverse regions on the

planet.

footage from El Marchante's archive, and a booth where

attendees can find versions of the music on vinyl to take

home and enjoy.

About *The Institute for Other Intelligences*:

*The Institute for Other Intelligences* (X Artists’ Books, 2022) brings speculative fiction and media studies to bear on an imagined future where machine intelligences convene annually for curriculum on algorithmic equity. The book presents a transcript from one of these conferences, in which a community of “AI agents” gather at a school for oppositional automata to deliver lectures on the human biases and omissions encoded in their training data. The resulting manuscript, published on the occasion of the Institute’s millennial anniversary, revisits sociotechnical systems from its founding in the 21st century. Drawing on feminist, queer, and critical media scholarship, the trainings collected in the book aim to optimize the operations of future generations of intelligent machines toward just outcomes. Hakopian uses these speculative exchanges to invite the reader to consider how critical approaches to nonhuman intelligence might reroute our current path toward destructive technofutures and allow us to conceive of another way forward.

In the medieval song-form called tenso--or debate--two poets converge on a single subject, usually having to do with love and/or ethics. One voice sets out a problem; the other voice responds.

This performance is a debate, a letter, an object and a theory.

Together LaCava & Nersessian will live-exchange words and images to agitate—disturb—the terms with which we understand desire and intimacy.
