**Derrick Carter**, who would rather emphasize his interest in shoes than his status as a legendary DJ, became a strong presence in Chicago's underground dance scene in the 90s after landing regular stints at Shelter, Foxy's, and Smart Bar. Once Derrick's prodigious skills and distinct personality were exposed to the world, the rest was history. Though he doesn't perform very often in Chicago anymore, when he does he attracts large crowds. Most of the time he works in Europe, where he's become a minor celebrity among dance-music aficionados.

From dominating rap battles to working as a sought-after ghostwriter for major artists, DZA’s journey to the top has been nothing short of legendary. By 2002, he began carving his own lane, releasing a string of iconic mixtapes that eventually led to his debut album, Rolling Stoned, earning the Hip Hop Album of the Year award at the High Times Doobie Awards.***

NOW ON 2/22/2025 out of the ashes, PHOENIX will rise to celebrate our 5th anniversary. The Phoenix is a symbol of resurrection, immortality, eternal youth, justice, and self-suffering. Tonight we want to see everyone come and celebrate the different elements and themes of that. Then the following night I will bring the 5th Annual BrtbTV Awards Ball to you all. What started as an idea progressed into a YouTube channel, then a brand and business. With well over 400 million views and counting. BrtbTV is one of the fundamental windows into ballroom culture. We are awarding the ballroom participants who conquered and slaughtered from January 2024 to December 2024.

This will be the fifth year that I will be giving out OTY’s for ballroom competition participants for the calendar year. We will award the individuals who conquered and slaughtered from January 2024 through December 2024. All of the balls that are on the BrtbTV Youtube Channel during that time period. We will be awarding over 80 BrtbTV OTY awards and 15 Individual Epitome Awards for people that have epitomized and mastered their categories.
