Arts & Culture Shows NYC Spring 2023

**Rough Trade NYC** is very excited to present the launch of the latest in the 33 1/3 series celebrating the debut album of New York no-wave veterans ESG on March 20th @ 6pm.

Author Cheri Percy will be in conversation with music journalist Kim Taylor Bennet to discuss the album's decade-spanning influence on modern music some 40 years on from its original release.

ESG were one of the first bands to put out music on British indie label Factory Records, working with famed producer Martin Hannett on their early EPs. The band's signature guitar sound from iconic single 'UFO' has been sampled in hundreds of hip hop records, and everyone from Karen O to Kathleen Hanna lists the South Bronx group as a direct influence.

Cheri Percy is a freelance music journalist and broadcaster based in the UK. She has written features across prominent sites including The Guardian. Noisey, Refinery29 and The Fader. Cheri has hosted culture shows across Soho Radio and Resonance FM. Come Away With ESG, 33 1/3 series is her first book.

Kim Taylor Bennett is a music journalist, producer, and host. She currently leads the Spotify for Artists podcast, Best Advice, offering emerging artists in-depth insights into what it's like to navigate the world of music, commerce, and creativity and revealing the best advice they're received along the way.
